Fourth Quarter 2021
From the Executive Director's Corner
As another year comes to a close, we want to thank all of you for your continued commitment to providing personal finance education. As our latest research shows, offering the MoneySKILL program not only leads to short-term financial knowledge gains among students, but also results in longer-term financial behavior changes as well. The work you do clearly has a positive impact, and we are so grateful for your efforts.

Like many of you, the AFSA Education Foundation has had a busy year. Over the course of 2021, we have launched new videos and professional audio recordings to the MoneySKILL platform, published a MoneySKILL impact evaluation highlighting the value of the program, and embarked on a national outreach campaign to promote MoneySKILL via social media reaching over 200,000 Americans. Furthermore, we will also be launching some significant MoneySKILL curriculum updates over the winter holidays to keep the content relevant and up to date with the latest financial trends and statistics.

In addition to all of the above accomplishments of 2021, we are most proud of having over 130,000 new student users enroll in the MoneySKILL program so far this year – the most of any year since the program launched in 2002. It’s a testament to the demand for financial education and the value of the MoneySKILL curriculum.

We look forward to having an even more successful year in 2022 and, as always, welcome your direct feedback, suggestions, and/or questions at info@moneyskill.org.

Best wishes,

Rhonda Ashburn
Executive Director
AFSA Education Foundation

Ask MoneySKILL!
Why are some of my students having trouble accessing the post-test exam?

Depending on how you set up your MoneySKILL class, students may need to complete all MoneySKILL modules in order to begin their post-test exam, they may need to meet certain grade thresholds, or it’s possible the post-test exam has been disabled. If some students are having trouble accessing the post-test exam, take a closer look at your class settings which can be updated at any time.
Are the MoneySKILL courses available in Spanish?

Yes! If you have students who would like to take the MoneySKILL course in Spanish, you can create a separate class for them and specify “Spanish” as the language during the class set-up process. All 37 MoneySKILL modules are available in Spanish and the newer MoneySKILL videos include Spanish captions.
How long does it take for students to complete a MoneySKILL module?

The time it takes a student to complete a MoneySKILL module depends on their grade level and the specific topic; however, we find that it can take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete most modules.
Announcements
MoneySKILL curriculum updates later this month:  Please be aware that we will be updating the MoneySKILL curriculum later this month during the week of December 27, 2021. These changes will not impact the module topics or learning objectives, but rather will focus on bringing the content up to date. We do not expect any interruption in access or service during this time.

Are you a MoneySKILL instructor in the Las Vegas, Nevada area? We think MoneySKILL students and teachers tell the story the best about the value of MoneySKILL. We’re searching for an articulate student who has completed at least ten modules of MoneySKILL successfully and can speak about the key learnings obtained and skills developed. Reach out by Friday, January 14 to info@moneyskill.org to tell us about your student and why you would recommend them.
Do you have a MoneySKILL success story?  The AFSA Education Foundation wants to hear about successes you have had incorporating MoneySKILL into your classroom or workplace. This can be something as simple as a brief quote from an instructor (you!), a letter of feedback from a student, a detailed story about the benefits of MoneySKILL, or even a mention on social media (@AFSAEducationFN). If you have something to share, please reach out to us at info@moneyskill.org.
