Hi everyone! Dr. Emilie here....I wanted to take a few moments to share my heart with all that's been happening.
I've spoken to so many of you and I hear and see such a variety of situations - literally every person is going through this differently. Some people are overloaded with kids and work, others are lonely and isolated, some love working from home, many are financially worried, while others are happy and adapting well.
I'll be honest - my last 7 weeks have been a roller coster. At first Martin and I couldn't believe we actually had to close. There was a lot of stress with figuring out the best thing for us, our family, our employees, our patients....
Then we figured out our plan, got our mindset right and moved forward. Big picture, we know we are not in control, but if we get our mindset right, we're on a better path! We started working on projects we've been wanting to do, organizing things, doing some fun activities with the kids. I also had other great intentions I never got to, like working out daily (yup, didn't work for me....), painting and organizing the basement, lol.
That went well for a while, but then the reality of all the work ahead of Martin and I got to me and I found it hard. We had to do everyone's job from parents to teachers to owners to cooks and be health care practitioners supporting our patients at the same time! Martin and I used to have a team to help with everything and I found it overwhelming.
I called a friend this week and was telling her some of the difficulties I had been going through. She said:
"oh, I thought of you with the closures and everything, but on Facebook everything looked good, so I thought you were ok".
Our personal facebook pages are usually a highlight reel....we all know that...and it's fun to share good times on it for sure, but we forget to look deeper sometimes. It is normal in life to have ups and downs - and even more so now.
Despite some stress and worries we've had many great moments and blessings through this - more time with the kids, our littlest learning to bike, more family dinners, fun outside, getting to know our neighbours more, trivia nights, zoom calls with friends....and I love that part! I have also loved being in the clinic and connecting and seeing those patients that do need our help right now.
Good news, as more patients are needing our help, we will slowly be able to get more help at the clinic to serve you better - while still keeping us safe and in balance :) I feel like I've personally turned a corner....or gone up in my roller coaster!
A big thing we often talk about with chiropractic and acupuncture is ADAPTING. We get adjusted and get acupuncture to help our body deal to the stresses around us. There will always be ups and downs in life. Our goal is to help you deal with those as best as possible!
Well, there it is....I really wanted to share my experience so that whatever you are going through, you know you're not alone. If you need to talk because you're having a hard time, please reach out. If you want to talk "just because", we love talking and connecting with you too! |
