I am getting to the age that I’m getting recommended for a mammogram. Many years ago I was introduced to thermography as an alternative and did a full body scan to test it out. It was pretty cool technology and I always told myself eventually I would use this as a first step to breast imaging.
Last month I went to see Julie Kapassas at Somatic Thermography for my first breast scan! Thermography is used to view the amount of heat emitted from the skin’s surface. It is done with a special camera that detects heat patterns and anomalies. She takes a baseline image at first. Then you put your hands for 1 minute in cold water and she takes more images. The cold challenges the blood vessels that would normally constrict. Any non-responsive blood vessels could be associated with malignancy, even very early on. This would refer me for more testing. I am happy to report my scans were good. I will be repeating this yearly.
As you’ll see below in Julie’s description, this type of imaging can detect changes in the breasts 5-8 years prior than normal imaging! I am not saying I’ll never do a mammogram, but I like that this is another test I can for breast health. Plus, if you know me by now, you know I am always doing new and different natural things!
Please note: the images are just to give you an idea of what scans look like - they’re not mine :)
Somatic Thermography:
Why not start your breast screening journey with thermography (medical grade infrared imaging)!.
