"Hi everyone! My name is Dr.Vanessa Jalbert-Caputo, known as Dr.Vanessa, and I am excited to join the Oaktree team as a family chiropractor. I was born in Sault Ste-Marie and raised in Sudbury, Ontario where I began my studies. During my high school years, I quickly realized that I have a huge passion for health, fitness, and nutrition and that I wanted to help people live a healthy lifestyle. At the age of 11, my sister was diagnosed with scoliosis, which brought my family to a chiropractic office. During that first visit I learned what chiropractic truly was and how the nervous system controls and coordinates every single thing that happens in the body. I knew right then and there that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I started shadowing chiropractic offices and watched as lives were being transformed every single day. And so began my interest in chiropractic care. I attended Laurentian University studying Promotion de la Santé where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. After graduation I took a leap of faith, packed up my entire life and moved to Port Orange, Florida where I studied at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Yes, I definitely made the right choice to escape the cold winters and study in the sunshine state! Once I graduated I wasn’t ready to bear the cold just yet and accepted an amazing chiropractic position in Tampa, Florida, where I specialized in structural correction chiropractic care overseeing the care of patients from only a few hours old to the age of 94. It was during my first year practicing in Tampa that I realized my heart was still in Canada. My family and friends are the biggest part of my life which is why I decided to move back to Canada and join Oaktree. If I am not in the office you can find me in the gym, exploring the city, or spending time with my friends and family.
I see my patients as an entire being, not a symptom. By taking pressure off of the nervous system, the body is then capable of healing and functioning at 100%. I want my community to experience lifelong health and am committed to helping each patient achieve it. I look forward to becoming a part of your journey to health and wellness!"

Hi! My name is Maeva Greco and I am an Acupuncturist. I grew up in Chichester (QC), a small village about 2 hours North-East of Ottawa.
I was originally born in Montreal, but in 2003, my family decided to drop the busy city life, and we moved to a beautiful, wild piece of land with a little cabin in the middle of the forest. Now, not only was our closest neighbour 2km away, but there was also no hydro, running water or telephone line (which is a pretty drastic change from our old condo life!). It was the middle of an exceptionally cold November when we settled there, and our only source of heat was a couple of gas fueled radiators that were too old to do the job… I kid you not when I tell you that I would wake up in the morning with frost on my hair! Fast-forward to a few years later and I was warming up in front of a new fireplace in my home on that very land that was now fully powered with solar energy. Without this life experience, I would’ve never developed the skills to become self-sufficient, and be fully conscious of the luxury that is electricity, water, and warmth. To me, the same thing goes for health. We don’t value the importance of having a proper energy and fluid circulation in our body, until it malfunctions. And when it does, we tend to look for a quick fix instead of assessing the root cause of our pain and continuously working towards balance in our whole body. When I started studying Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, I didn’t know much about it. I hadn’t even experienced an acupuncture treatment before. But after about 2 hours of sitting in class, I was 100% sold. Everyday, we all witness physical and emotional pain in people around us, and in ourselves. Some of us even forget what it feels like to have a healthy mind and body. Now imagine discovering a medicine that could finally answer hundreds of your own health-related questions, and allow you to find a hundred more solutions to help others get healthier! That’s the kind of life-changing revolution Chinese Medicine was for me, and there is not a single acupuncture treatment that isn’t a delight for me to give. When I am not at the clinic, I teach my passion to other Chinese Medicine nuts and it fills me with joy to see their eyes shining in wonder as they discover, like me, the power of the body to heal itself! Sometimes, it just needs a little motivation to start the healing mechanism, and this is exactly what acupuncture provides it with.
I also love spending as much time possible in nature to fuel up on good energy and remind myself that no matter how hectic life can be at times (or often!), there is always a way to find our way back to our true, peaceful self. Some would say that I found my passion by coincidence, but I absolutely know that I owe it to my undying faith in life. It’s easy to forget that whether we have a clear plan or not, life might have the best one for us, if only we keep going forward.
On that note, I look forward to helping you reach all of your health goals!
Maeva Greco, R.Ac

Over the last few months you've likely noticed that we talk a lot about breathing. Martin is now a Soma Breathwork instructor and you can find his classes both in evening workshops from time to time at the clinic or on Mondays from 11:30am-12:15pm at The Peace Room on Sparks St.
A multisensory meditation experience that can awaken dormant parts of your brain, improve circulation and fitness, promote healing, and help to manifest your intentions and take your meditation practice to the next level. The main goal of the Soma Breath class is to correct your breathing so that your normal rate of breathing at rest is 3-4 breaths per minute. This can help protect against disease, balance your emotions and help you be more in the flow.
