Trends in Healthcare
To attain better patient satisfaction, providers are trying their best to engage patient actively in their own health and wellness. More than 70 % of US adults own a smart phone. There is vigorous demand for mobile health applications. Such as patient monitoring, microcomputer wearables, mobile health teaching, learning, and remote data collection. The Texas Association of Business’s study highlights a growing trend around the country – more and more people want access to quality health care when and where they need it. 70 percent of Texans favor the use of telemedicine to diagnose common medical conditions. (see the second article of interest below). Want to discover more about emerging opportunities and roles using your current nursing knowledge? Join nurse entrepreneurs, nationally acclaimed speakers, business experts and aspiring entrepreneurs from around the country in Las Vegas October 14-16th. See the quick agenda here and hotel info here. Entrepreneurs; Curious About What Can Be Outsourced?
When wearing ten hats becomes one too many; we need to think about growing our business instead of being the bottleneck to our growth. Pat Iyer MSN, RN, LNCC is our Featured Expert in this issue and she writes how invaluable outsourcing is to the nurse entrepreneur. Better yet, she gives us some examples of what can be outsourced. Pat knows what she is talking about having been the past president of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and has built very successful businesses in addition to being a prolific author!

Speaking Opportunity
Some speaking spots are available for in China, this November. If you are interested please contact NNBA member Patty Hedrick at (310)962-7502.

I recently had the pleasure of connecting with best selling author, entrepreneur, and speaker Keith Ferrazzi, one of the pre-eminent thought leaders and experts when it comes to professional relationship-building.

For those of you who don’t know Keith, he is the New York Times bestselling author of the modern-day classic Never Eat Alone, as well as the author of the bestselling book Who’s Got Your Back?, former CMO of Deloitte (where he was the youngest CMO of a Fortune 500 company), and former CMO of Starwood Hotels before he eventually broke out on his own to start Ferrazzi Greenlight.
With concerns over access to providers and unnecessary costs, a majority of consumers and businesses feel that telemedicine may hold the key to improving health care.

A new telemedicine survey by the Texas Association of Business (TAB) that state employers and healthcare consumers are interested in increased access to remote interactions with their providers.

According to the survey, consumers want immediate access and limited wait time, providers want to use technology to streamline services, and employers want to offer both in their health benefits packages.
You’re a busy nurse entrepreneur. You are holding down a full time job and also running your business in your free time. You’re not quite ready to quit the job, which gives a steady paycheck, but you are uneasy about what you are hearing at work. There are discussions of layoffs, mergers, consolidation of departments and changes in titles.

Your plan is to do something about your business every day. But you find at the end of the day there are tasks you have not gotten to for your business. You’re tired. The children, parents, pets or spouse need attention.
