Dear Nurses,

The renowned American psychologist Abraham Maslow is best known in the nursing profession for his “Hierarchy of Needs”. What’s lesser known is Maslow did considerable work in business management and leadership addressing issues of customer loyalty, entrepreneurship, and the importance of communication. “One can choose to go back toward safety or forward in growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again,” is one of my favorite Maslow quotes. It is inspirational, especially given the circumstances that we are dealing with today.

It can be really confusing with all the choices nurses have for continuing education. If you have ever thought, what else could I do, is entrepreneurship an avenue for me? Then NNBA’s annual educational conference on nurse entrepreneurship and career alternatives is for you and it is right around the corner. If you are new to the idea of starting a nursing business, this conference will help you qualify your thoughts and answer your questions. Our conference is unique in how successful nurse entrepreneurs and business owners share their best practices, insider information, and content you can take action on immediately. If you are an existing business owner, this conference can extend and expand the growth of your business. And every nurse benefits from 15 contact hours and over 4 weeks access to the valuable conference content.

Why Extreme Ownership is So Important in Business and in Life

Inc.
One of the things I love most about helping executive coaches, consultants, experts and other small business owners sell to corporate clients is that it sets them up for more predictable revenue.

That’s because companies are never done. There’s always another project, initiative, opportunity or challenge they will face tomorrow.

And they will turn to you again and again for help with those things, assuming of course that you play your cards right from the get go.

For example, you need a proven framework for conducting “sales” conversations that gives you the chance to showcase your full scope of capabilities at the outset of the client relationship.

You don’t want to wait until after you finish the first coaching engagement or consulting project to then try for a sales conversation about what else you can do for them. That’s terrible timing, and it will cost you a lot of income.

It’s also important that you think broadly about ALL the tools you have in your coaching toolbox or consulting toolbox to help your corporate customers.
Walmart is going all-in on telehealth, opening a new front to compete with Amazon.

The retail giant announced Thursday that its healthcare division, Walmart Health, plans to acquire multi-specialty telehealth provider MeMD.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition will enable Walmart to expand its Walmart Health service across the country.

“Telehealth offers a great opportunity to expand access and reach consumers where they are and complements our brick-and-mortar Walmart Health locations. Today people expect omnichannel access to care, and adding telehealth to our Walmart Health care strategies allows us to provide in-person and digital care across our multiple assets and solutions,” said Cheryl Pegus, M.D., executive vice president, Health & Wellness in a statement.

“Our Health & Wellness mission is to focus on the consumer’s seamless experience and improved health. We are excited to welcome MeMD employees to the Walmart family, and we are looking forward to together, accelerating health care access across the country," Pegus said.
There's an important, common thread between all great organizations today: extreme ownership. It's the idea that you take full responsibility, both for yourself and for whoever is on your left and right. Doing this requires that what you want to achieve, but also what you tolerate, are aligned. It's one of the best skills you can learn for your organization and your general life for five major reasons.

1. You stay in the driver's seat

People like to feel in charge of their lives. However, if you don't step up and say exactly what you think or feel, or if you don't advocate or take responsibility for yourself, other people are going to make decisions for you and direct your future. By taking extreme ownership, you stop this from happening. Instead of being pushed around, you get to create your own path and future.

2. Things aren't always simple

We've all had monster projects or tried to juggle a million things. If you don't communicate or nail down your priorities well through everything, those situations only get more complex and harder to deal with. Taking extreme ownership on a 24/7 basis ensures you can look even at the most chaotic situations without stressing out.
