President's Corner
January 1, 2023
Dear Nurses,

Happy New Year and welcome to our first newsletter of 2023! With 365 days ahead, many of us take time to reflect, re-evaluate, re-fine and re-prioritize our lives. What are you looking forward to in the new year? Here are some prompts to get you going. What were your biggest wins and your biggest challenges of 2022? What are a couple of skills you could acquire in 2023 to increase the wins and decrease the challenges? What was your mindset like in 2022 and how can you improve it for 2023? How did you take care of yourself in 2022 and how will you take care of yourself in 2023? What do you want to do more? What do you need to do less? What new things do you want to try in the next 12 months? Who do you want to spend more time with? As you say goodbye to 2022, prepare to make this next year fruitful and amazing!

Regardless of your setting, now more than ever, nurses need to protect the strength and financial future of their careers. With the continual disruption in our healthcare delivery system, it is essential that nurses diversify their knowledge to incorporate sound business practice knowledge. Nurses make great business owners! Many nurses view NNBA’s annual educational conference on entrepreneurship and career alternatives as a launch point for designing their career over the next several years. The strategies and tactics learned, and the connections made with colleagues and successful business owners, give nurses resources they can trust as they pivot their careers into owning their own business. Place August 3-5, 2023, on your calendars for #NNBA2023 Conference in Las Vegas! Registration is coming soon as well as exhibitor and sponsorship information.

Last call for speakers on entrepreneurial paths, business development, best practices, and emerging opportunities for nurses for #NNBA2023. Here is the information, criteria, and link: https://nursesbusiness.com/call-for-speakers-2023/. The deadline for submissions is January 5, 2023.

It's exciting to see nurses bringing much needed innovation to services, products, and programs in healthcare. True to NNBA’s mission, we encourage, educate, and empower each other in business through service and connection. We connect through our networking groups, newsletters, programs, and conferences. The first NNBA member Meet-up, Business Round Table Networking for 2023 will be February 9th at 2:00PM PST. In closing, no articles of interest in this issue. Instead, I am sharing a throwback, a link I like to share on January 1st. When I wrote this blog http://unconventionalnurse.com/optimism-for-2014/ I wasn’t aware of the new year’s potential and becoming the president of the NNBA. The best part of the blog is Christian Larson’s “Optimist Creed”. I’m an optimist for nurses and nurse entrepreneur’s improving lives in our communities, our nation, and our world.

Sending you best wishes for your health, happiness, and prosperity for the New Year!

Unconventionally yours,

Michelle
