Most Wisconsin bank CEOs expect economy to stay the same over next six months

BIZ TIMES

In the middle of the year, the chief executive officers of Wisconsin banks were split on the outlook for the state’s economy. Almost half, 48%, expected growth in the second half of the year while 39% expected the economy to weaken.

Fast forward six months and there is more consensus among Wisconsin bank CEOs with 64% expecting the state’s economy to stay the same over the next six months, according to the latest survey from the Wisconsin Bankers Association. Another 21% expect the economy to grow while 15% expect it to weaken.

“As industries rebound — including tourism, manufacturing, construction, and agriculture — economic stability is taking hold,” said Rose Oswald Poels, president and CEO of the WBA...

Redline: Manitowoc plastics manufacturer differentiates itself through culture
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS

MANITOWOC -- Nearly every business crafts mission, vision, values statements with the best of intentions. But while the goal might be to create a guiding vision for the organization, the resulting creation often feels perfunctory or ornamental — a couple of sentences written and rarely revisited.

As Redline Plastics leaders pondered creating their company’s mission, vision and values, they decided to try something different — and bold. While typically a group of executives might come together to determine the content, company leaders Chuck Webster and Nick Murray invited the marketing team to share its input. The idea developed after Murray attended a seminar that advocated for creating guiding behaviors instead of mission statements...

Oshkosh takes flight: City seeks to showcase more than just AirVenture
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS

OSHKOSH -- For 15 years, Oshkosh has prided itself on being “Wisconsin’s Event City” — and rightfully so, with EAA AirVenture drawing 600,000 annually. AirVenture is such a high-profile event, in fact, that many visitors simply refer to it as “Oshkosh” — a level of brand recognition you just can’t buy.

But COVID-19 taught communities a valuable lesson: Don’t build your brand on mass gatherings. And officials in Oshkosh are on a mission to prove that the community is much more than the celebrated air show. Amy Albright, executive director of the Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau, will be leading a rebranding effort this year focused on positioning Oshkosh as a community to visit 365 days a year...

Having a ball: Skee-Ball of Bay Tek Entertainment
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS

PULASKI -- Young or old, few can resist the pull of a game of Skee-Ball. The sound of the nine balls clicking into place, ready to be rolled up the lane in pursuit of achieving a high score — and maybe winning some tickets — can set loose waves of nostalgia.

While the game has origins in New Jersey, where Joseph Simpson created it in 1908 with the goal of capturing the excitement of ski jumping, Bay Tek Entertainment of Pulaski has owned the rights to Skee-Ball since 2016. The acquisition marked the first time manufacturing of the alley rollers left the East Coast.

“There’s a lot of Midwestern pride going into each alley roller that goes out the door,” says Callie Sherman, customer experience manager at The Village Companies, the parent company of Bay Tek...
