Green Bay family honors late father with gift to St. Norbert College

DE PERE -- A Green Bay family is honoring its late father with a gift to St. Norbert College students.

The family of William "Red" Lewis has donated $20,000 to help get the St. Norbert College Student Emergency Fund started.

The fund will be used to support students struggling to continue in college because of one-time financial needs of about $500 or less. This can include things like computer repairs, unexpected moving expenses or vehicle repairs.....

APPLETON - A private equity firm has agreed to purchase Appleton-based Appvion.

On Dec. 3, Wynnchurch Capital, L.P. entered into a definitive agreement to acquire most of the assets of Appvion Holding Corp. and subsidiaries.

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding delivers clean fuel barge 'Clean Canaveral,' America's largest ATB

STURGEON BAY – Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding made a special delivery to Polaris New Energy Dec. 3: the nation's largest articulated tug and barge named "Clean Canaveral."

The barge measures 340 feet long for a total of 5,500 cubic meters, designed to ship liquefied natural gas. Polaris, a subsidiary of Northstar Terminals, will use the ship to deliver clean fuel, meeting a growing demand for natural gas as maritime fuel, according to a press release from Fincantieri....

UW-Green Bay's Rising Phoenix Program expands with Computer Science pathway for students across the region
UW-GREEN BAY 

GREEN BAY -- The Rising Phoenix Early College High School Program is expanding through a new collaboration between UW-Green Bay and the Computer Science Talent Ecosystem Youth (CSTEY). The Rising Phoenix Computer Science Pathway program is modeled after the inaugural Rising Phoenix cohort with the Manitowoc Public School District that launched in Fall 2020 by expanding the program across the CESA 7 region.

According to CSTEY, computer science is one of the fastest growing careers in the region with at least 2,000 new jobs created by 2022. To keep up with new job creation, the region requires a higher output of computer scientists with bachelor’s degrees, who are ready to meet computing needs of employers. The Rising Phoenix Computer Science Pathway fast-forwards bachelor degree attainment by providing the opportunity for students to get a two-year head start by completing an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree while in high school....

In an effort to help those in that industry, and to continue Wisconsin’s economic recovery, Governor Tony Evers is awarding more than $14 million in grants.

Throughout the Northeast region of Wisconsin, movie theaters, summer camps, and Minor League Sports Teams will be the recipients of that funding. Oneida Nation receives grant to relieve housing crunch

ONEIDA -- The Oneida Nation plans to use a federal COVID-19 relief grant to help alleviate its housing shortage.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says the tribe will use a $1.7 million grant to build eight two-bedroom homes.

One other Wisconsin tribe received a grant. The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians is receiving $1 million for COVID-19 response and preparedness. grant is part of $52 million in grants to 49 tribal communities across the country. ...
