Mile of Music opens downtown pop-up shop for holiday season

APPLETON – If you missed the eighth annual Mile of Music festival this summer, here’s your second chance to grab some merch.
Appleton’s iconic music festival is hosting its first Mile of Music Pop-Up Holiday Shop this holiday season. The pop-up is located at 10 E. College Ave. #102 — the former Items of Interest space, across from Houdini Plaza.

FVTC hosts cooking competition for high school chefs

GRAND CHUTE - Some of the best high school chefs are battling it out in the kitchen. Fox Valley Technical College hosting a cooking competition to see who makes the best burger and best cake.
Sixteen chefs from six area high schools took to the kitchens at Fox Valley Tech for a cook off.
According to culinary instructor, Richard Williams, “You really see some fun techniques that they’re trying. It’s fun to watch and then you get the finished product, you get to taste it. It’s fun to watch and it’s a good experience for them.”
Eight of the competitors were creating the perfect burger, including Bennett Verboomen from Kimberly High School. He says, “My burger had an English muffin, avocado, some potatoes, and then the burger with some American cheese and then I had bacon with a garlic aioli.”...
New simulation center offers 'life-saving' training at Advocate Aurora Health

“It prepares us for those unexpected and rare, but dangerous moments,” said Dr. Stephen Sehring, OBGYN at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
Advocate Aurora Health’s simulation center at Aurora BayCare Medical Center has three simulation rooms that can replicate any scenario imaginable for health care professionals to practice life-saving skills.
“We had an example not long ago where we had a rare event called an umbilical cord prolapse. Our nurse who had done this simulation actually performed beautifully,” said Dr. Sehring. “After it happened, the husband said, ‘you must see this all the time’ and she said, ‘I’ve never seen it before, but I’ve done simulations for this’ so that would be a perfect example of how helpful it could be.”... |
