Unhappy about your internet service? Help is on its way to Oshkosh as more details emerge about network gaps
OSHKOSH EXAMINER

If you are like most local residents, you are in need of better internet service and dissatisfied about your network speed. Help is on the way.

A combination of federal funding, state grant-making and private sector competition is pointing to a brighter future for broadband connections in the Oshkosh area. Improving service, closing the digital divide between the city and outlying towns, and addressing the issue of affordability are all part of the plan.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which President Biden is scheduled to sign Monday, will provide Wisconsin with “a minimum allocation of $100 million to help provide broadband coverage across the state,” according to Gov. Evers. Earlier this week Evers announced that $100 million in state funds for broadband expansion will be available starting Dec. 1....

Grounded Cafe to launch accessible food truck
PRESS TIMES

GREEN BAY – Grounded Cafe has made a name for itself by bringing employees with disabilities to the front of the house, taking orders, making coffee and whatever else they need to do on a given day.

Now, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the David L. and Rita E. Nelson Family Fund, Grounded Cafe will put some of those employees out in the community with a new accessible food truck.

“Here at the ADRC and Grounded Cafe, a cafe attached to the Aging & Disability Resource Center building on Adams Street in Green Bay, we’ve had some big dreams, changing how people see people, all people, no matter how old or what abilities they have, what color they may be, what social class they may be in,” ADRC Director Devon Christianson said. “For years, we’ve been hearing from our customers about high unemployment rates for persons with disabilities, as well as about the power of systemic ageism and discrimination that impacts people finding employment. We wanted to use the social innovation model within our nutrition program to create a new space where everyone belongs, abilities are celebrated and our community can gather.”...

Several more families are scheduled to arrive before Thanksgiving.

Ongoing supply chain issues create push to shop local this holiday season
WLUK

APPLETON -- The holiday season is fast approaching, and local shops may be your best bet to secure gifts. That's because many say they have not been impacted from the ongoing supply chain issues.

The shelves in local shops may have more to offer than larger chain stores this holiday shopping season.

"This year, as we're looking at supply chain and some of the challenges some of the larger chains are having, we're not seeing that as much for the smaller businesses," said Jennifer Stephany, executive director for Appleton Downtown Inc....
