SHEBOYGAN FALLS - Dave Greene, a truck driver with Johnsonville, drove 2,000 miles to Florida to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, which has been deemed one of the most devastating storms to hit the U.S.

After driving to Orlando, Florida, on a delivery route, Greene used a week of vacation on Oct. 5 to Oct. 9 to transport 160,000 pounds of supplies, like water, sanitary items, Johnsonville sausages and Meals Ready to Eat, to points of distribution for communities hit hardest.

He worked with United Cajun Navy, a disaster relief organization, Global Citizen and Farm Share to stock the Johnsonville 18-wheeler with supplies to deliver along Florida’s southwest coast, stopping in places like Naples and Pine Island...

Robinson Heating & Cooling -- standing tall on its own: New location, logo marks new chapter in the company's long history
THE BUSINESS NEWS

DE PERE – For nearly a half-century, the Robinson name has been well-known in the Northeast Wisconsin heating and cooling industry.

Working under the parent name Robinson, Incorporated, the heating and cooling division of the business has provided residential, commercial and industrial HVAC services in the region since 1975.

Recently, two-long time employees took the reins of the heating and cooling portion of the business and branched out on their own, separate from Robinson, Inc.

“The ownership of Robinson, Inc. actually had reached out to the two of us to see if we would be interested in purchasing due to the fact that as Robinson, Inc. grows and focuses on manufacturing, they weren't able to continue to spend the time putting the efforts into the Robinson Heating and Cooling division,” Co-owner Mike Taicher said...

THE BUSINESS NEWS

“Right now, my understanding is we can't produce enough machinists to fill all the openings that there are,” Troy Schaefer, principal of the School District of Sevastopol, said.

With a dual purpose in mind – help build the supply of trade-skilled workers and provide high school students with an opportunity to earn high school and college credit – Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) and Sevastopol High School have launched the Door County Machining Program..

GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

GREEN BAY — Over 155 students from across Wisconsin and northern Michigan worked to impress company recruiters, vying to be the No. 1 draft pick and get a $1,500 scholarship at the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance's Internship Draft Day on Thursday.

Held at Lambeau Field, the event gave students the opportunity to participate in six interview and networking sessions with more than 53 companies like Green Bay Packaging, KI, Schreiber Foods and Shopko Optical Manufacturing.

The event was reminiscent of the NFL Draft as students went round for round showcasing skills to potential employers as a referee circled the interview field, blowing his whistle as each round came to a close....

The NFL Draft -- 'Green Bay's Super Bowl': Packers, Discover Green Bay, surrounding municipalities bidding for future NFL Draft
THE BUSINESS NEWS

GREEN BAY – Ninety million dollars certainly has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

According to Brad Toll, Discover Green Bay CEO, that is the estimated statewide economic impact if the National Football League (NFL) Draft comes to Titletown in the next few years.

“Since we’ll probably never host a Super Bowl in Green Bay because of the unpredictable weather, getting the NFL Draft would be our Super Bowl,” he said. “There’s not another event we could host that would likely be any bigger. When we pitched the idea to the NFL, that’s what we said – it would be huge for the Green Bay community and the entire state.”

From 1964 to 2012, the draft was held in New York City. Since then, it has been awarded to various NFL cities around the country....

Elevate Sustainability as an Economic Driver
Contributing to a sustainable future: Farmers aim to achieve a healthy environment, maintain economic profitability and work toward social and economic equity with sustainable farming practices
THE BUSINESS NEWS

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – Ask 10 farmers to define what sustainable farming is, and you’ll likely get 10 different answers, maybe more.

That said, there are some basic concepts most farmers can agree on – sustainable farming is broken down into three categories: creating a healthy environment, maintaining economic profitability and working toward social and economic equity.
How one goes about achieving those things can differ greatly, and if one can accomplish all three, they are described as truly sustainable.

But it’s difficult to do and there are trade-offs, Eric Cooley, director of the Discovery Farms Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said..
