Wrightstown facilities to create over 120 manufacturing jobs after receiving state grant

MARINETTE - Two Wrightstown facilities in village's industrial park will be adding over 120 manufacturing jobs after receiving two Transportation Economic Assistance grants.

Gov. Tony Evers with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced the TEA grants for the village Thursday.

The grants will allow Alliance Plastics Inc. and Drexel Systems LLC's to build rail spurs, which will connect Wrightstown to markets around the country and Canada...

Sturgeon Bay company opens computer sales and service store in Algoma

ALGOMA - A Sturgeon Bay-based computer and cybertech company is bringing retail home computing sales and support to Kewaunee County.

Quantum Technologies will open its new store in downtown Algoma on Monday, Oct. 10, with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. and an open house. It will be the only storefront currently offering professional IT and computer support for home computing in the county, as well as serving the business community.

The Algoma location will offer many of the services available at Quantum's headquarters location in Sturgeon Bay. These include Mac and PC repair and service, computer and device sales, personal and business IT support, network and cabling service, and cyber security...

NEENAH - A 114-year-old nonprofit that helps seniors stay engaged with activities is getting a makeover in the City of Neenah.

Valley VNA Senior Care broke ground on Thursday for its 9,835-square-foot space that will enhance the safety of common areas such as kitchens, dining rooms, and lounges.

Brewery produces barley in Little Chute’s historic windmill

LITTLE CHUTE - Stone Arch Brew Pub and Tied House are producing barley for their ‘If it Ain’t Dutch’ light lager in Little Chute’s historic windmill.

Originally, the brewing company was producing the grain with Briess Industries in Chilton. Even though they are still using some of their products, Stone Arch decided to move production to the windmill, which is across the street from the Tied House.

Since opening the Tied House in January, the company thought using a village staple would be a great way to connect with the community...

Family is a big part of business success at Misty Ridge Orchard in Oneida

After talking to Steve and Kerrie Gonnering about their business, Misty Ridge Orchard in Oneida, I couldn’t wait to gather the grandkids and visit. It turned out to be even better than anticipated.

The Gonnerings, who both have full-time jobs outside of the orchard, have created an absolutely wonderful place. There are apples, outdoor games, a petting zoo, bales of hay to climb on, swings, pumpkins, a sandbox, and a corn maze. Then, after hours of play, guests can cool off in the shop and enjoy a slice of apple pie, caramel apple, or cider slushie.

“We are off the beaten path (N5126 Advent Road), but once people find us, and once they experience us, they will come back,” Kerrie said.

That wasn’t their initial goal when creating a business on their 25 acres. What started as a plan to grow Christmas trees took a turn when the soil proved to be incompatible. That led Steve to consider apple trees...

‘The Giving Cow Project’: Kemps donating over 300k shelf-stable milk to Wisconsin communities

APPLETON - Local dairy brand Kemps is helping to fill a need for families and food pantries across Wisconsin by donating over 300,000 shelf-stable packs of milk.

The ‘Giving Cow’ milks are single-serve, 8-ounce packs of ultra-high temperature pasteurized milk that have a shelf life of up to 12 months, compared to other milk that has a shelf life of about 20 days from processing.

Connecting everyone in Wisconsin to affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service is critical to the overall success of the state, ensuring the health and well-being of residents and a strong state economy. This event will provide an opportunity for us to discuss ways we can work together to efficiently and effectively utilize these dollars to achieve the highest possible level of high-speed Internet deployment and adoption.
