Wisco Hard Seltzer puts Stillmank Brewing in prime position grab a "little small fraction" of the market
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

GREEN BAY -- Brad Stillmank brews beer that delivers foam, color, aroma, flavor and "all those amazing things."

When making hard seltzer, not so much.

“It’s almost like you have to make the exact opposite of beer with the same equipment,” he said.

Hard seltzers with lots of aroma and loads of flavor are enjoyable for the first couple of pulls, Stillmank said, but about half way through it becomes hard to finish one. Let alone open another....
Gardening passion drives GMC's Hostad to leave The Commons for startup Fork Farms' new foundation
WISCONSIN INNO

GREEN BAY -- In the last several years, Michael Hostad has gone from a gardening novice to a self-proclaimed "farming nerd."

Since planting his first backyard salsa garden after landscapers installed a raised bed, Hostad has become somewhat of a tomato connoisseur — he grew 22 varieties last year and tests heirloom seeds for the national Seed Savers Exchange.

So when the opportunity arose to join Green Bay startup Fork Farms LLC to lead the company's new foundation focused on food equity, Hostad decided to take it. He will step down as executive director of The Commons at the nonprofit Greater Milwaukee Committee (GMC) at the end of September....

New owner of Oconto bowling alley finds herself in a 'Good Place'
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

OCONTO – When her family moved from Ohio to Wisconsin a decade ago, Michelle Good never expected to be operating a small-town bowling center.

Over her first six months of operating the center — renamed “The Good Place” — the goal has been to refocus the business on bowling rather than the bar.

“This is a bowling alley, but kind of our vision for is to be more of a community center,” she said.

For example, Good brought in a ping pong table and, “on a whim,” started a summer cornhole league which played in the grassy area behind the parking lot...

While working for one of the nation’s largest banks in the commercial division, Mitesh Ajmera of Appleton identified this as a problem that needed solving. He believed he could create efficiencies to streamline communications and operations....

Wireless sensors to help monitor Bay of Green Bay
WBAY

GREEN BAY -- Some cutting-edge technology will be deployed to help keep an eye on how the water and wildlife are doing on the Bay of Green Bay. Cellcom and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay are working on this together.

Beginning next spring, UW-Green Bay researchers will have a new tool to monitor the health of the bay.

“It’s a wireless technology that’s specially designed to capture really small amounts of data, and it can connect to thousands of devices, lots of devices and those devices operate on very little power, so it can run a very long time,” explains Bob Webb, Cellcom vice president of innovation.

The new technology is called LoRa, which stands for LOng RAnge, and it will be used as a monitoring application on a series of buoy platforms to measure oxygen levels and water clarity in real time...
