OSHKOSH NORTHWESTERN

OSHKOSH - Oshkosh Corp. is no stranger to electrification.

Its ProPulse diesel-electric hybrid system has improved fuel economy and offered export power on several military vehicles the company makes for more than 20 years. In the last three years, the company's subsidiaries have introduced electrified fire engines, scissor lifts, military vehicles, airport rescue vehicles and cement mixers to their respective markets. Oshkosh's subsidiary, McNeilus, also electrified refuse pickup operations on some of its trash trucks...

More than $125,000 in scholarship dollars from Aurora BayCare Medical Center aims to 'inspire' nursing for UW-Green Bay students
UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY

GREEN BAY— Aurora BayCare Medical Center is deepening its investment to address a dire nursing shortage in Northeast Wisconsin by providing support to prospective and current nursing students at UW-Green Bay.

The support from Aurora BayCare will be highlighted on Wednesday when ten UW-Green Bay nursing students receive scholarship dollars through the Aurora BayCare Inspire Nursing and Aurora BayCare Future Nurses scholarships. Aurora BayCare has committed to more than $125,000 in scholarship dollars to “inspire” nursing for UW-Green Bay students and plans to fund the scholarships over the next four years. The aid comes after an initial gift of support to help launch the University’s new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in 2019.

“Providing this support at UW-Green Bay is just one way that we can invest in Wisconsin’s nursing workforce, and in the coming years, that investment will reflect in the excellent care nurses will provide for our community,” says Heather Schroeder, vice president and chief nurse officer for Aurora BayCare...

Making a splash: Washington Island School goes deep in underwater robotics competition
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS

DOOR COUNTY -- It’s not often that a group of VIPs receive a police escort to Door County’s Washington Island Ferry, but this summer four Washington Island middle school students and a tangle of PVC pipes named Dory arrived for their trip with rock-star credentials.

The team of young engineers had spent months building Dory, their underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV), and qualified for the global contest after strong showings at the local and state competitions..

Oshkosh council to give $1.6 million in federal money for Boys & Girls Club expansion campaign
OSHKOSH NORTHWESTERN

OSHKOSH – The city council awarded just over $2 million in federal money to local nonprofits affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and most of the money went to the Boys & Girls Club to help with its expansion.

The Oshkosh council last week doled out grants of $350,000 to the Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Center and $130,480 to ADVOCAP's eviction prevention/rental assistance program. But the city is giving $1.6 million from this round of grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act to cover 10% of the Boys & Girls Club planned $16 million expansion.

Tracy Odgen, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, said the organization has seen the need for services grow to the point last summer that it had to "turn kids away" simply because the club didn't have enough space...
