Investors will meet with emerging companies at 2021 Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium
WISCONSIN TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL 

MADISON, Wis. – A growing list of investors from Wisconsin, the Upper Midwest and beyond will meet with emerging companies that take part in the Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium, to be held in person Nov. 3-4 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison.

Companies that apply for, and are asked to present, at the conference will have three chances to meet with angel and venture capitalist, corporate funds, family funds and other investors on hand. The 2021 format includes two pitch opportunities – the Tech Council Investor Networks track (five-minute presentations) and the popular Elevator Pitch Olympics. All registered companies are eligible for “Investor Intros,” which will allow pre-selected companies brief, one-on-one meetings with targeted angel and venture investors.

The list thus far: Bold Coast Capital, BrightStar Wisconsin, Capital Midwest, Golden Angels Investors, Great North Ventures, Hyde Park Ventures, Inventure Capital, Lancaster Investments, M25, Madison Development Corp., Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, Rock River Capital, TitletownTech, Venture Investors, WARF Ventures, Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., WISC Partners, Wisconsin Investment Partners and Ziegler Meditech...

Pencil pushers: Couple making their mark with their museum of writing instruments

WINNECONNE — Tom and Karyn Schmitz have been writing their own unique story for years.

And whenever a pen runs out of ink or the tip of a pencil is broken, they just look around their lake home and decide which of the 80,000 writing utensils that surrounds them they’d like to use next.

The Schmitz operate the Museum of Writing Instruments, the only one of its kind on this side of the Atlantic. Like many events in their life, this was an opportunity that simply presented itself and, well, the writing was on the wall...

GREEN BAY — The future entrepreneurs of Greater Green Bay will be out selling homemade products to shoppers next weekend when the Urban Hub and Greater Green Bay Chamber host the fourth annual Children’s Business Fair on Saturday, Oct. 2.

This free, one-day event is the culmination of many months of work by local children who have diligently developed and created their own products under the direction of area educator Denise McFarlin in an effort to learn the basics of entrepreneurship in a fun, practical way.

The event is inspired and supported by the Acton Children's Business Fair and Solid Foundation Learning Inc., who believe that entrepreneurship is key to engaging, educating, and empowering youth.
