NORTHEAST WISCONSIN -- Voting has now begun for the coolest thing made in Wisconsin.

The seventh annual contest sponsored by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and Johnson Financial Group, encourages Wisconsinites to vote for the their favorite Wisconsin-made product.

This year’s nominees include mining equipment, yachts, an EV fire truck, cheese curds, a home generator, beef jerky, sports complex lighting, frozen pizzas, a cargo ship, intermodal chassis and more.

It also includes a number of things made right in Northeast Wisconsin like folding chairs from KI in Bonduel, Big Bag Yellow Popcorn from Valley Popcorn in Neenah, the 50 GLS Yacht from Cruisers Yachts in Oconto, the Great Plate from Bethrick in Oshkosh and Hercules Pickleball Net from Carron Net Co. in Two Rivers....

SriRaj Kantamneni has joined Schreiber as Senior Vice President-Information Services and Chief Information & Digital Officer (CIDO). In this role, Sri will lead Schreiber’s digital strategy and innovation. Sri succeeds Tom Andreoli, a 24-year Schreiber veteran, who retired this month.

Six tribes in Wisconsin receive $1.1M in federal funding to combat high unemployment

Six Indigenous nations in Wisconsin are receiving a share of funding from the U.S. Department of Labor for job training services and to expand employment.

Menominee County, which encompasses much of the Menominee Reservation, is among the most impoverished in the state, but the Menominee Nation is receiving a portion of that federal funding to alleviate the situation.

More than 22% of Menominee County residents live below the poverty rate compared with 10% for the rest of the state, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The county is more than 80% Native American compared with 1.2% for the state...

St. John's Ministries opens new women's homeless shelter in Green Bay

GREEN BAY -- Saint John’s Ministries is opening a new homeless shelter for women in Green Bay.

The facility is on the corner of Walnut and South Quincy Streets. A daytime resource center has been open there since July, and the shelter will open Nov. 1.

City officials and St. John’s representatives are proud to cut the ribbon at the new women's shelter on Monday.

Executive Director Alexia Wood says the number of women needing shelter has increased. In 2012, St. John's averaged four women a night. This past year, they averaged 37 women...

Oneida Nation donates meat in celebration of 1822 Treaty signing

ONEIDA – Oneida Nation is donating meat to the Ho-chunk and Menominee food pantries. Representatives from the pantries say the donation will benefit families in need.

“We want to make sure that we have healthy proteins that are going out to all of our tribal members and all of our families. The families that are receiving this, they are going to be having these foods on their tables,” said Sarah Peterson, Ho-Chunk Community Health Director.

The pantries are receiving 1,600 pounds of Black Angus Beef and Buffalo for their communities. The Ho-Chunk pantry feeds more than 1,200 families. Peterson says the donations will help them feed even more...

'Appleton's largest block party,' Octoberfest, is back for its 40th year for first time since 2019. Here's what to know for this weekend
APPLETON POST-CRESCENT 

APPLETON – Octoberfest will make its way back to College Avenue this weekend for its 40th year after the annual celebration was cancelled the previous two years.

Octoberfest, and the annual car show License to Cruise, were cancelled in 2020 because of the pandemic and in 2021 after the Octoberfest committee and Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce could not gather enough volunteers, vendors or transportation options.

This year, organizers anticipate an exciting return to the festival, said Nikki Voelzke, chair of Octoberfest's marketing and public relations committee.

"We expect everything to be just back to the Appleton Octoberfest that people are used to, that they know and love," Voelzke said...
