Oshkosh's new thrift store specializes in one-of-a-kind clothing, collectibles
OSHKOSH NORTHWESTERN

OSHKOSH – It might take a little more work to find what you're looking for at downtown's newest vintage store, but the payoff can be more rewarding.

Unlike retail stores, with multiples of each item and many sizes, owner Victor Kielman said everything at his store is one of a kind.

Every single piece is one-of-one: We have that specific shirt," Kielman said. "If it's your size and you like it, grab it. It's unique to you, and that makes it fun."

01 Vintage's grand opening is set for 12 to 7 p.m. Saturday in its new location at 415 N. Main St. — the former Olive & Rose boutique, which closed in April....

IV Wellness & Aesthetics will offer several IV therapy treatments, like “anti-stress," “detox” and “metabolism.”...

Go Girl! Life Coaching empowers women through confidence, goal-setting
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

GREEN BAY -- Tameika Hughes-Foote of Green Bay wants women to have the hope that she struggled to find in her own life.

“I was a teenage mom and had three children by the time I turned 19 years old. I was in toxic relationships that led to a lack of self-confidence," Hughes-Foote said. "Having worked my way through those obstacles, there was a point when I thought I could come alongside other women and help them navigate their own challenges.”.

Recycle that fishing line: UW Oshkosh students can help
DOOR COUNTY PULSE

DOOR COUNTY -- The vast majority of marine debris consists of plastics, and at the top of the list of plastics pollution in oceans and the Great Lakes are either rigid or hard plastics, or derelict fishing gear – nets, line and ropes, for example.

That’s according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the federal government’s lead agency for addressing marine debris. NOAA calls fishing nets that haven’t been properly disposed of “ghost” nets because they continue to fish even though they are no longer under the control of a fisher.

All fishing-gear debris has the potential to cause serious problems for wildlife and boat propellers. Even if placed in the trash, birds often take the nets or fishing line from open bins and become entangled.....

'As I always say, the people here are warm': Lil Jamaica celebrates 3 years in Green Bay
WFRV

GREEN BAY – A one-of-a-kind food truck and dine-in eatery in Green Bay rang in three years of delicious service in a special way.

On Friday night, Wisconsinites gathered at Lil Jamaica, located at 1332 South Broadway Street, to help celebrate the business’s three-year anniversary – which was no easy feat.

Having been a relatively new business during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lil Jamaica, like many other area businesses, has had an uphill battle.....

23-year-old man buys Wisconsin golf course, hopes to attract younger generation to golf
WISCONSIN PUBLIC RADIO

PLYMOUTH -- What if Tyler Luedtke, now 23, bought the Sir Lanserlot Golf Course in Plymouth? He's from the area and played that course as a kid. And about a year and a half ago while he was at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, he floated the idea to a friend.

"Wow, wouldn’t this be awesome — to give this a shot?" he asked. "And sure enough, about a year later it was for sale. (I) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give it a shot."

Dale Lanser, who owned the Sheboygan County course for 16 years, sold it to Luedtke in June for $1.6 million, the Sheboygan Press reported last month...

Parallel 44 Winery co-founder aims to put Wisconsin wines on a world-class level
MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL

When Steve Johnson looks over his vineyard in Door County, he sees the future. His dream is a growing goal, literally. He wants to make world class wines right here in Wisconsin, using only grapes grown here.

That means at Parallel 44 in Kewaunee and Door 44 Winery and Vineyard in Sturgeon Bay they’re using cold hardy grapes that might not be as well known to consumers, including Frontenac, Petite Pearl, Louise Swenson, Marquette and La Crescent.

Johnson and his wife, Maria Milano, both had law careers before opening the winery. They planted their first vineyard in 2005 and opened their tasting room in 2007. This year, he’s also working as president of the Wisconsin Winery Association and will be producing his 15th vintage....

Algoma bar's bloody mary wins three first places at statewide festival in Milwaukee
MANITOWOC HERALD TIMES REPORTER

ALGOMA - Last year's win may have been big for Smashed on the Rocks Saloon, but this year, they tripled their fun.

The Algoma lakeside bar swept all three first-place awards for which it was eligible in The Bloody Mary Festival held Saturday in downtown Milwaukee. Its version of a bloody mary successfully defended last year's People's Choice win and added wins in the Best Original Recipe and Best Garnish categories, both of which they placed second in 2021.

"It was awesome," said Rana Ninneman, owner and manager of Smashed on the Rocks, about the triple wins. "We went into it knowing the competition was tough. We didn't know if we could win again, and here we win three times, so that was exciting."..
