The event is targeted towards economic-development and elected officials, community leaders, internet service providers, business organizations and citizens from the New North who have an interest in strategies aimed at improvement of broadband internet through new infrastructure and related funding....

One of the largest internet service expansions in rural Wisconsin is well underway as Charter Communications aims to connect around 140,000 homes and businesses.

If successful, it would fill many of the coverage gaps in the state where an estimated 650,000 people lack access to high-speed internet, also known as broadband. Another 650,000 have access but can't afford what's available, according to the state Public Service Commission....

APPLETON -- ThedaCare has invested $3 million in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered software for care operations automation.

ThedaCare says the investment in Qventus will enhance patient experience and outcomes, while improving access to inpatient and surgical care.

“Care operations automation solutions can help relieve some of the prime operational and financial pressures facing hospitals and health systems,” said Mark Thompson, ThedaCare Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. “As ThedaCare continues our commitment to reinventing health care, partnerships like this will speed up our vision of becoming a leader in population health, remaining focused on the patient, and empowering each person to live their unique, best life.”.

Sheboygan releases report on 2022 American Rescue Plan Act spending
SHEBOYGAN SUN

SHEBOYGAN – The city of Sheboygan has released its semiannual report on American Rescue Plan Act spending. Between Jan. 1-June 30, 2022 the city spent over $11.3 million of the $22 million awarded to the city in 2021.

The biggest expenditure was $9.5 million toward the city’s $41 million raw water intake project that includes a 6,500-foot water intake pipeline into Lake Michigan, a shore well and a new pump station.

The second largest investment was $782,510 for renovations at the Uptown Social community center at the former Save-A-Lot grocery store building at 1817 N. 8th St. The new facility is expected to open in November....

WASHINGTON –Today, Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)and the voice for America’s 33 million small businesses in President Biden’s Cabinet, announced that the Biden-Harris Administration exceeded its small business federal contracting goal, awarding 27.2 percent or $154.2 billion in federal contract dollars to small businesses, an $8 billion increase from the previous fiscal year.

The share of contracts going to small businesses equates to 27.2 percent of total federal contracting funds. Combined with $72 billion in subprime contracting goals, this historic spend has supported over one million jobs in the American economy....

U.S. Venture Open raises nearly $5 million to combat poverty

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN -- The 2022 U.S. Venture Open raised nearly $5 million to help end poverty in Northeast Wisconsin.

The final tally was $4,817,964. That surpassed the goal of $4.6 million.

The nation’s largest one-day charity event dedicated to ending poverty brought in more than 1,200 attendees and 900 golfers.

The U.S. Venture Open is held on the second Wednesday of August. The event, over nearly four decades, has raised more than $60 million and grants have been given to 235 organizations in our area....
