New restaurant in northern Door County offers adventurous, fun 'comfort food with a twist'
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

EPHRAIM - The name of Ephraim's newest restaurant is exactly what its proprietors want it to be — a fresh take on dining in Door County.

Open since July, Fresh Take 42 owners Asche Rider and Dave Reera hope to make their place just north of The Red Putter Mini Golf stand out from the many others on the Peninsula, from the actual food being served to the service and look.

"We picked the name because (the restaurant) is a little bit of a fresh take on restaurants," Rider said in an interview with the Advocate. "We try to work with fresh food, we want to buy from local farmers, local purveyors as much as possible."...

Pickup restoration leads to invention, business for Menasha entrepreneur
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

MENASHA -- Mark Blank of Menasha has come a long way since dropping out of high school and leaving home at age 16. Despite a hard beginning, he equates his journey to the story line in the movie “Gran Torino.”

In that film, a bitter and lonely young man is transformed into a confident and happy individual. For Blank, it was his best friend’s father who made that great impact in his life.

“We worked side by side, and he taught me how to do all of the mechanical basics like electrical and plumbing,” Blank said. “His attention and direction changed my life.”...

"Pretty much anything you can dream that you would grow outside, you can grow here," said Lalu Bere, the Brand Vice President of Fork Farms. She spoke to NBC 26 on behalf of Alex Tyink, the creator and CEO of Fork Farms, who was on paternity leave...

Casco girl's toymaking brings joy to others
DOOR COUNTY DAILY NEWS

CASCO -- Making your dog happy with a new toy this week will be paid forward thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of a 10-year-old Casco girl. Sky Schoenberger began making her Tugs of Love dog toys shortly after going to a Green Bay fabric store to buy supplies for a fleece tie blanket for a friend’s birthday gift. When the clerk told her the fabric could also be used to make dog toys, Schoenberger’s love for animals kicked in.

Since 2020, Schoenberger has made hundreds of her braided dog toys. The money she makes goes not to a piggy bank but instead to two charities close to her heart. Her dog Rooster and her neighbor Michael served as inspiration for her philanthropic spirit...
