The new Aurora Medical Center-Sheboygan County (opened) Sunday. Here's what to know about the hospital.
SHEBOYGAN PRESS

SHEBOYGAN - A long line of visitors filtered through the new Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County hospital, 3400 Union Ave., at an open house June 29.

The new facility will open at 7 a.m. this Sunday, following the opening of its new medical office building in April.

“When we first talked about building a medical center and office building here, we spoke about the importance of making care more convenient for the residents, especially as more people call Sheboygan County their home,” Aric Kinney, president of Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County, said at the open house June 29...

Going, but not leaving: Brian Bruess of St. Norbert College
ST. NORBERT COLLEGE

Twenty-two years of preparation, including 12 years of true discernment, instilled Brian Bruess with the confidence and deep understanding of student development to lead his beloved alma mater. After five years at the helm of St. Norbert College, he departs this summer, leaving the school with firm financial security, a lively sense of its unique Norbertine, Catholic and liberal arts mission, and empowered faculty, staff and student bodies. No small accomplishments that undergird the institution as it continues its dedication to human flourishing.

President Brian Bruess ’90 isn’t busy just tying off loose ends; he’s powering through to the finish line with the same vigor and enthusiasm he and his wife, Carol (Sessler) Bruess ’90, felt when they arrived back on campus in 2017. “It’s a very palpable, memorable feeling. I had never in my wildest dreams imagined that I’d have a chance to be president of my alma mater, the place where Carol and I met, the place that shaped us and formed us,” Bruess says. “Thinking back to that time there was a mix of anticipation and excitement for the opportunity, but also a weightiness because this must be successful...

PRESS TIMES

GREEN BAY – Having the opportunity to attend college is an accomplishment many strive for to help broaden career options.

However, attending college isn’t always in the cards for everyone.

“As bilingual, we speak some English, but sometimes not much, so sometimes you think maybe you won’t be able to do anything after high school,” Lucio Prieto, a recent graduate of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s (NWTC) bilingual cohort.

Prieto, along with 10 other students, recently graduated from NWTC’s newest approach to educating its Latinx students – a bilingual cohort program....

Cherry season arrives in Door County
DOOR COUNTY DAILY NEWS

It is time to grab your buckets and head to your local cherry orchard in Door County. After last year’s cherry season got off to an early start thanks to a warmer spring, this year’s crop will be ready for its more traditional mid-July start. Toni Sorenson from Soren’s Valhalla Orchards says this year’s cherries have benefited from a recent streak of good weather. That includes some timely rains that will allow the fruit to gain size before picking it.

Sorenson says they often get calls for certain varieties of cherries like Bing and Rainier, but they are more generalized terms for sweet cherries. More important for consumers is to make sure they get cherries grown in the United States if they are not going straight to the orchard, so the dollars spent stay right with local growers. She expects the first sweet cherry pickers to hit her orchards on July 11th, with those looking to grab some tart cherries later in the week.
