Northeast WI team graduates from inaugural Supportive Housing Institute
WISCONSIN HOUSING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTH (WHEDA)

A team based in Northeast WI recently graduated from WHEDA’s inaugural Supportive Housing Institute, which is designed to expand the supply of much-needed housing for Wisconsin's most vulnerable residents. Through the effort, WHEDA aims to reduce the timeline for building supportive housing by improving planning and development.

WHEDA partnered with CSH to provide seven teams from around the state with more than 80 hours of targeted training and technical assistance over a 5-month period. The institute culminated with a finale at WHEDA’s new headquarters in Madison, where each team presented their project plans to potential funders, stakeholders and community leaders. Organizations who were part of the Northeast Wisconsin team include:

• Newcap
• Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI
• City of Green Bay

Draft project plan presentations can be viewed here...

How companies like Generac, Clarios, Rockwell and Kohler have embraced technology and transformed their businesses
MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL

HOLLAND, Michigan - When a former automotive interiors factory was repurposed to manufacture lithium-ion batteries in this city of tulips and Dutch wooden shoes, the transformation was felt around the world.

Now, the plant owned by Milwaukee-based Clarios International Inc. ships battery cells to Hanover, Germany, and Shanghai, China, where they’re assembled with electronics and software into battery packs used by global automakers.

Holland, a city of 33,000 residents on Lake Michigan, also has an LG Energy Solution factory that makes high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles. South Korea-based LG recently announced a $1.7 billion expansion at the plant that's expected to create 1,200 additional jobs and boost western Michigan's reputation as a battery technology hub....

OSHKOSH -- Setup for EAA AirVenture has begun.

Workers like Bob Dausman have been on the grounds since mid-May getting ready for the show.

“It's amazing what we have to do put on a show that lasts for a week,” says Dausman.

Many workers and groundskeepers are already camping onsite to prepare.
“EAA has somewhere between 350 and 400 buildings spread out on these grounds, and they all usually need something done to them. So, it's like working in a small city or a large town," says Dausman...

Imagine Fox Cities Summer of Engagement
IMAGINE FOX CITIES

Imagine Fox Cities created a Living Vision back in 2019 with the help of over 300 community members in the Fox Cities, who helped us shape and form this Vision through community conversations and a well-being survey. The aim of this initiative is to advance the well-being of our place and the well-being of our people. Creating conditions for everyone who calls this place home and opportunity to reach their full potential.

In 2021, Imagine Fox Cities once again conducted a well-being survey. If you are interested in viewing the results, visit the recording here. We are looking to unite the Fox Cities to advance the work of the four pillars of the vision with our Summer of Engagement, culminating in a week of activities from August 22 – 26.

The four Pillars of the Vision Imagine Fox Cities bases its work on include:
1. Where kids get off to a strong start and onto a positive life pathway.
2. Where we have an economy that works for everyone.
3. Where shared spaces and a rich cultural environment connect us.
4. Where all belong!

If these pillars resonate with you or your organization, join us the week of August 22–26 and help us to encourage community members to participate in our engagement week.

We would like your support by providing you removable floor graphics that would stick to the concrete outside your building or inside, at an event you are hosting or a gathering place as an effort to create awareness and to encourage folks to join us in making the Fox Cities a place of belonging for all. You can view them here. Contact Kara Lendved for more information at 920.574.3444.
