Prevea Health opens first ambulatory surgery center in Green Bay

GREEN BAY—Prevea Health completed its new, state-of-the-art surgery center in Green Bay for same-day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventive procedures.

Patient care at the Prevea Surgery Center, located on the city’s west side at 1860 Shawano Ave., began today. It is the region’s first multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center (ASC) for medical specialties including gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, podiatry, urology and ear-nose-throat care.

Common procedures and surgeries performed will include ACL repair, cataract removal, colonoscopy, tonsil and adenoid removal, ear tubes and more...

MANITOWOC — The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) awarded over $20 million in Project Growth grants to 28 cross-sector community teams and over 100 businesses to help solve the challenges facing Wisconsin’s child care system and bolster the state’s economy.

“We have seen in various communities across the state that when business, economic development, early learning, and other community partners come together and innovate, we all benefit,” said DCF Secretary Emilie Amundson. “These grants are helping us kickstart and build those partnerships, as well as find innovative and sustainable child care solutions that can be modeled in communities and businesses across the state.”...

SCEDC proposes 24-acre affordable housing development in Sheboygan Falls
SHEBOYGAN SUN   

SHEBOYGAN FALLS – The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation has submitted a workforce housing proposal for a 24.88-acre development that would provide entry-level homes in Sheboygan Falls.

The project is part of The Forward Fund, a community partnership designed to address the shortage of affordable housing in Sheboygan County. Housing, childcare and skills development are the three main barriers the SCEDC has identified as preventing workforce development in the county....

DOOR COUNTY -- It's being billed as a chance to visit Door County's Maritime History up-close.

The celebration is part of the 29th Annual Door County Spring Lighthouse Festival.

Even with Lake Michigan levels six inches lower than last year at this time, it's a bumpy ride for the tractor hay-wagon combination to get to the nine-acre site. Door County Maritime Museum officials say Cana Island is one of about a dozen destinations on the docket for the weekend festival...

WEDC CEO: New business formations up 42 percent over two-year period
WIS BUSINESS 

The head of WEDC says the state’s “entrepreneurial spirit” is reflected in the 42 percent boost in new businesses formed during the pandemic.

“It’s actually really exciting, because you could imagine that in the face of a pandemic, folks would retract, right?” WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes said in a recent interview. “They would say, ‘I’m not going to do anything new, I’m going to stay safe in my job, I’m going to stay safe where I am.’ But instead, what we’re seeing is a real entrepreneurial spirit.”

The number of new business formations in Wisconsin leapt 42 percent between 2019 and 2021, from 50,277 to 71,151, according to figures provided by the Department of Financial Institutions....
