He was a dentist in Afghanistan. Today, he's filling a gap in the Fox Valley's dental health workforce.
APPLETON POST-CRESCENT

FOX CITIES -- Being a dentist in Kabul kept Mohammad Azimy busy.

In addition to running his own clinic in Afghanistan's capital city, he also provided dental services at a local hospital and trained dental students at a university. He often worked until 8 or 9 p.m.

It all disappeared in a matter of days last August as the Taliban took the country over and he and his wife and child were forced to flee.

It was clear something was wrong the morning of Aug. 15, Azimy remembered, but he still headed to work at the hospital like usual. When he arrived, he said he saw people running away, scared. Police had abandoned their weapons in the streets and were being taken away by taxi....

The Forward Fund proposes 24.88 acres for housing development in the City of Sheboygan Falls new blog post
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORP.

SHEBOYGAN – Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) has submitted a workforce housing proposal for 24.88 acres in Sheboygan Falls. The SCEDC would partner with the City of Sheboygan Falls on its first project to construct entry-level homes.

Cross-sector taskforces and various studies have identified housing, childcare, and labor force skills training/development as top workforce challenges facing Sheboygan County families and employers.

Based on the findings from these studies and to address these barriers, the SCEDC, a not-for-profit 501(c)(4), created The Forward Fund, a community partnership to help move Sheboygan County forward. Donors to The Forward Fund include Johnsonville, Kohler Co., Masters Gallery Foods, Inc., and Sargento Foods Inc. Housing barrier solutions include a new community housing development model to support the construction of new affordable housing units..

NEW Zoo breaks ground on Canopy Tour project
WLUK

SUAMICO -- The NEW Zoo in Suamico is expanding, vertically.

The zoo broke ground on its Canopy Tour project Thursday. The new Canopy Tour will allow visitors to view animals in their habitats from a walkway, 22 feet above the ground.

The 1,700-foot-long, one-way trip canopy will go over some visitor favorite exhibits, including the African lions and penguins.

"The other thing that is really cool is getting to be face-to-face with some of the animals that are going to be up high with people, like our snow leopards and our snow monkeys. It allows us to get guests to connect with those animals in a kind of new way," said NEW Zoo education coordinator, Angela Kawski...
