Leadership in the New North
Folse selected as next Ripon College president
WLUK

RIPON -- Victoria N. Folse will become the first woman to lead Ripon College in its 170-year history.

Folse was unanimously selected by the Ripon College Board of Trustees to become the institute's 14th president on Tuesday.

She will succeed Zach Messitte, who announced his resignation from Ripon College in September 2021.

She will move into the Ripon College president home located at 1 Merriman Lane with her husband Dick this summer.

Eighteen months after Advocate Aurora announced it would be expanding in Fond du Lac, the healthcare provider gathered for a ceremonial ground breaking on its new facility.

Menasha office building to be converted into commercial/apartment space

MENASHA -- An office building in downtown Menasha is being converted into a mixed-use development with commercial and residential space.

Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction Inc. says it is converting the current three-story office building at 130 Main St. The basement and first floor will be commercial space. The second and third floors will be made into 14 apartments. A fourth floor will also be added. The exterior brick will be stained and new windows will be installed.....

Companies team up to create award-winning casting

Two Wisconsin-based companies, Amerequip and Waupaca Foundry, recently teamed up to create a metal casting that’s creating a buzz in the commercial lawn, landscape and agricultural markets.

A cast iron bucket attachment, for a compact utility tractor, just received the America Foundry Society’s Casting of the Year Award. In the past, bucket attachments were made from fabricated steel and the bucket teeth were sourced from China. But with today’s international supply chain challenges, Amerequip was searching for a way to meet the equipment needs of their clients while working around the supply chain issues. GREEN BAY – A ‘new’ clinic is opening in the Green Bay area that provides critical services to both the underinsured and uninsured.

A ribbon cutting and open house ceremony for the second N.E.W. Community Clinic in Green Bay will take place on June 1. The building will be open to patients the following day, June 2.

UW-Green Bay receives $1.91 million to continue first-gen programs
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS 

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s TRIO program—Upward Bound (UB)—has been renewed and will receive $1.91 million in funding from the Department of Education Office of Federal TRIO Programs. This grant assures the program’s continuation for the next five years, through 2027.

This program was introduced to aid first-generation and low-income families. UW-Green Bay Upward Bound serves high school students from the Green Bay Area Public Schools. Within the Trio Programs, is also the Regional Center for Upward Bound Math/Science Program (RCMS) which was established in 1990 to address the need for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) instruction serving students from 20 high schools throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. The RCMS program is currently in its fifth year of funding and the University will submit the renewal application for this program this month...

Eight students in the district's City Stadium Automotive Program are receiving college credits to Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and a one-year diploma by completing the program.

LTC ag students take 1st place in national competition
WHBL 

A national competition among two- and four-year colleges was won by a team from Lakeshore Technical College.

The students were members of the Professional Agricultural Students Club and competed against some 300 others at the National PAS Organization Conference in Minneapolis. LTC placed first in the Dairy Specialist team competition, topping colleges including Iowa State University and Southern Illinois University. The team included Colin DeYoung, Alex Diersen and Elizabeth Benicke. LTC also placed well in individual competitions...
