Emerging leaders reimagined - join the entrepreneurs shaping the future
U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

SBA’s T.H.R.I.V.E., Emerging Leaders Reimagined program is now accepting applications for the Milwaukee and Green Bay sites. T.H.R.I.V.E., Emerging Leaders Reimagined is a 6-month intensive training program that helps small business owners get unstuck and take their business to the next level.
Accelerate your leadership skills, learn from an MBA-level curriculum, receive tailored business coaching, and build relationships with a community of business owners, advisors, and experts.

The program has been reimagined this year and removes the one-size-fits-all model in exchange for engagement, problem-solving, and peer-to-peer interaction within the cohorts. In addition, the new format promotes an ecosystem of business connections among business peers, government leaders, and the financial community. As a result, T.H.R.I.V.E., Emerging Leaders Reimagined helps build sustainable and scalable businesses that promote economic development within their communities.

Vending machine bringing printer ink to smaller communities
SPECTRUM NEWS 1

WAUTOMA — Bill Zimmermann had a print job to get done, but no ink.

“I needed ink and it was bout 6 p.m. at night and I live in a smaller community and there was nowhere to get ink,” he said. “Thank goodness the local office supply dealer let me in after hours, but that thought never left me: there’s opportunity when you’re in a small town, you’ve got nowhere to go, and you’re desperate to print.”

That opportunity came in the form of INK BOX. It’s a 24/7 ink cartridge vending machine business he launched about six years ago...

A pandemic career reassessment led this Green Bay graphic artist to launch vehicle wrapping business
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

Ryly Sann says his passion for creative problem solving and aim for excellence led him to reevaluate his career last June when the coronavirus pandemic was starting to wane.

“At that time, I took a step back and got into screen printing,” Sann said. “But after about six months, I became convinced that wrapping was what I needed to do. I didn’t know what the future would bring, but I thought, sink or swim, that’s what I need to do.”

That conviction led to the start of his business, SIC Wraps, located in Green Bay...

UW-Green Bay student wins WiSys' statewide student entrepreneurship competition
WIS BUSINESS

EAU CLAIRE—UW-Green Bay student Sydney Gang won the Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament, presented by WiSys, on April 23.

Gang took first place and a $2,500 prize in the statewide student entrepreneurship competition held in downtown Eau Claire at coworking space CoLab. Gang’s pitch “Skip the Warm-Up” was for an improvement to knee sleeves, which are often worn by weightlifters and athletes to provide support to joints.

Gang’s approach allows athletes to add heat to the knee sleeves to help prevent injuries, reduce pain and maximize performance. The business administration student came up with the idea for the product while trying to return to weightlifting after a knee injury...

GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

Authentic tastes of Mexico. Traditional pastries and a bit of a sugar rush. You can get all three in Green Bay and Appleton at three bakeries run by three couples — with three stories of hard work.

La Rosa Bakery and El Manjar Bakery in Green Bay and Trigales Bakery in Appleton each fill their display cases with traditional baked goods like tres leches cakes, concha and cornbread. The INK BOX has four locations in central and east-central Wisconsin. All are in smaller communities. “We put these machines in underserved communities where there just isn’t enough retail, where customers need ink cartridges but the only way to get them is on the internet or a 45 of 60 minute drive,” said Zimmermann.
