Ceremonial groundbreaking kicks off construction on TDS’ all-fiber network in Green Bay

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) held a groundbreaking ceremony in Green Bay on Monday to celebrate the start of construction on its newest all-fiber network. Joining TDS Telecom President and CEO Jim Butman at the event were Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich, Congressman Mike Gallagher, Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach, state legislators from the area, as well as executives from TDS’ construction partners, Tilson. The ceremony was held at He-Nis Ra Park next to Lombardi Middle School, near the first neighborhood where contractors have started prework on the project.

"We’d like to thank all of the local and state leaders who came today to help us celebrate the groundbreaking on this project bringing high-speed connections to Green Bay,” says Butman. “We couldn’t be more pleased to make this investment of about $240 million to deliver reliable, future-proof technology to the entire region.”...

Lambeau Field to host first-ever soccer game this summer
WISCONSIN PUBLIC RADIO 

GREEM BAY -- Lambeau Field will host its first-ever soccer game when two of the world’s most dominant clubs come to Green Bay for an exhibition match.

Manchester City and FC Bayern Munich will face off July 23 at Lambeau for what organizers are calling the USA Cup. The friendly game is part of pre-season tours by both teams.

The game was announced Monday at Lambeau. Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said he's thankful organizers are bringing the match to Green Bay even though the community has a smaller market than other cities.

"I’m a little biased, but Lambeau Field is, to me, the best football stadium in the world, and we couldn’t think of two better teams to play our first soccer game at Lambeau. It’s really going to be special," he said...

GREEN BAY -- UW-Green Bay is 'igniting the future' with two new spaces on its campus that responds to the regional needs.

The university presented its new Willie D. Davis Finance & Investment Laboratory and the Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Personal Financial Planning Monday. These spaces were created to focus on growth in financial planning.

Oshkosh's Brinkley's Boutique sheds light on Williams Syndrome awareness month

GREEN BAY -- Oshkosh’s Brinkley’s Boutique is using its platform to spread awareness about Williams Syndrome throughout May.

Williams Syndrome is a rare developmental genetic condition characterized by medical problems, including cardiovascular disease, developmental delays, and learning challenges. It’s a disorder that affects only one in 12,000 babies every year, including the owner’s granddaughter, Brinkley.

“Every day for Brinkley is a good day. She’s just a cool kid. And we took the means from Brinkley and quoted it and made it our model to be kind the way she is,” Barb Nelson, the owner of Brinkley’s Boutique said...

Common Ground invites community to engage in discussion about education
COMMON GROUND

APPLETON – Common Ground, a community organization focused on influencing future change, is inviting the community to participate in an engaging workshop entitled School-Family-Community: Working to Support Children. Workshop participants will discuss creative ways to support the relationships between educators, parents and the community and address the diverse educational needs involved in shaping the future of our students.

Hosted by the Common Ground organization and led by trained community facilitators, this one-hour participatory, virtual event will take place Monday, May 9 at 11:30 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. In order to ensure a robust discussion with a variety of viewpoints, all community members are invited to attend.

This is the first of a series of Community Conversations planned by Common Ground. Additional opportunities around pertinent community topics will occur June 6, June 13, July 11, September 12, October 3, October 10, November 7 and November 14...
