OCONTO – The acquisition of Cruisers Yachts by the world’s largest boat retailer has poised the company for significant growth and helped secured its future in Oconto, says long-time president Mark Pedersen.

In a presentation before the Oconto City Council on April 19, Pederson said the sale to Marine Max about one year ago was “a very unique situation for this community,” and wanted council members to feel comfortable with what’s been accomplished by what he termed “a great marriage.”...

NWTC stresses the importance of apprentices, apprenticeship programs

GREEN BAY -- Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is home to several apprenticeship programs, which allows students to work and learn simultaneously.

Bill Sandberg's son is a senior. He's interested in some of the apprenticeship programs at NWTC.

“He’s really interested in doing something in the trades, he doesn’t quite know what. He likes woodworking, he likes metal, welding," Sandberg said...

Neenah considers 268-unit apartment complex on former Bridgewood Golf Course

NEENAH - Developer Tom Vandeyacht intends to build a $22 million apartment complex on the former nine-hole Bridgewood Golf Course that closed in 2019.

The project would require the city to pay $3.16 million to Vandeyacht, operating as Bridgewood Luxury Apartments, over 15 years to assist with the development.

It also would require the city to build a bridge over the Neenah Slough — known as Neenah Creek within city limits — off Jewelers Park Drive to serve as the primary access to the development and to build a new trail along the south edge of the property between the Jewelers Park Drive Trail and the Harrison Street Trail...

ASHWAUBENON -- Direct flights to Denver from Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport are resuming for the season.

Frontier Airlines' flights begin on Thursday. Service is offered Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

FOND DU LAC – Downtown Fond du Lac businesses and individuals have been showered with state and local awards this month.

The Wisconsin Main Street awards, hosted by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., returned to an in-person ceremony Friday night at the Hotel Retlaw to honor downtown projects and volunteers across the state.

Multicultural Coalition, Inc. hosts a Pop-up Resource Fair and COVID-19 vaccination event at Chilton Elementary School for residents in rural communities

CHILTON – A free Pop-up Resource Fair with a focus on our Hispanic population is being held on Tuesday, April 26 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Chilton Elementary School in the library, located at 421 Court Street in Chilton (map). A follow-up event will be offered on Tuesday, May 17 at the same location from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Part of the event includes the opportunity to receive COVID-19 vaccinations and booster doses.

“Many of the families here are Hispanic,” explained Ernesto Gonzalez Jr., Casa Hispana Inc. president. “Bringing a vaccination clinic like this to Chilton, where we have people who can speak their language and answer their questions, teddy bears to make the children feel safe and we’re offering vaccines, in an environment that is trusted, is so important. Grant Assists Those in Recovery with Training, Support and Treatment; Family Members of Those Impacted Also Eligible
FOX VALLEY WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD 

The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board (FVWDB) has received a grant from the US Department of Labor to provide workforce training, support and other benefits to individuals and their families impacted by substance misuse. The grant, totaling $1.1 million, allows the FVWDB to work with individuals impacted by substance misuse of any kind. 

“This grant covers not only the costs of substance abuse treatment for the individual seeking recovery, but also ensures the family members of those impacted by alcoholism or drug abuse can find the support and mental health treatment they need,” said Anthony Snyder, CEO of the FVWDB. “Our first goal is to get someone the treatment they need to enter sobriety and then we want to focus on those around the addicted person who need help. Once treatment has proven successful, we will look to get all of these individuals into some kind of job training program to fill one of the many open roles across our region.”...
