WISCONSIN TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL  

The countdown is under way for middle- and high-school students to enter Wisconsin Youth Entrepreneurs in Science, a statewide youth business plan contest modeled after the successful Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest. It is open for online entries from Wisconsin middle- and high-school students through 5 p.m., April 13, 2022.

Public, private and home-schooled students across Wisconsin are eligible to turn their science- and tech-related ideas into business plans and compete for cash and prizes. The contest begins with a 250-word summary submitted through WisconsinYES.com....

Howards Grove FFA uses hydroponics to feed the hungry in Sheboygan County

HOWARDS GROVE – The Howards Grove chapter of the Future Farmers of America is helping feed the hungry by using hydroponic technology to grow fresh produce for the Sheboygan County Food Bank.

When at full strength, the program will provide 80 pounds of fresh greens to the food bank per week, enough for 150 servings, according to Makayla Malone, an agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Howards Grove High School....

How a De Pere hemp farm and P'ri CBD connect with customers through faith

In 2017, Wisconsin established a pilot program that allowed farmers to grow hemp legally for the first time in 60 years. Peggy Coffeen and her husband, Kevin, considered the opportunity.

“My husband, who is an agriculture lender, came home one day and said, ‘We’re going to grow hemp,’” Coffeen said.

Local woodworker creating toys for Ukrainian children

LANGES CORNER -- More than a million Ukrainians have fled the war-torn country, many of them women and children. A woodworker from Langes Corner, in southern Brown County, is hoping to bring some joy to those refugee children with a simple toy.

Rick Brunner is hard at work inside his woodshop, Rick’s Toybox. Through his non-profit, he handcrafts wooden toy cars and trucks and then donates them all to doctors and police officers to handout to children. Texas-based company plans to reopen Enstrom Helicopter factory

MENOMINEE -- A Texas-based company says it has an agreement to buy the assets of the Enstrom Helicopter Corporation and it plans to reopen the Enstrom factory in Menominee.

Enstrom declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy citing “severe financial difficults” and announced it was closing January 21 after 64 years in business.
