GREEN BAY - A major state grant will accelerate Green Bay's effort to move the C. Reiss coal piles to a site near the mouth of the Fox River.

Gov. Tony Evers on Thursday announced Brown County will receive $15 million via the Neighborhood Investment Fund Program to help move the C. Reiss Coal Co. operation to the former site of Wisconsin Public Service Corp.'s Pulliam Power Plant and expand Port of Green Bay operations.

"I'm very glad to be here today to finally move forward on this project once and for all," Evers said, noting the grant helps "connect the dots" on a complex project. "We need to make investments today to make long-term sustainable growth for tomorrow."...

Manitowoc Ice will be sold to Pentair for $1.6 billion. Here's what to know.

MANITOWOC - Manitowoc Ice will be acquired by Pentair, a leading water treatment company, for $1.6 billion, according to an agreement signed Thursday morning.

"We expect this strategic acquisition to be a game-changer for our commercial water solutions platform," John Stauch, Pentair's chief executive, said in a statement Thursday.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2022, the press release from Pentair said. Manitowoc Ice is a manufacturer and distributor of commercial ice machines in the United States and internationally...

Local company offers free English classes to Spanish-speaking employees

MENASHA -- Gunderson Uniform and Linen Rental are giving their employees the gift of learning a new language.

Carolina Perez is one of about 30 students taking time out of their busy day for an English class. The students in the class are all Spanish speakers.

“My goal is to study English for a better future,” said Carolina Perez who is one of the students.

Perez said she’s originally from Mexico and has been in the United States for 10 years. On Thursday, she and her classmates were taken through a grammar lesson on the different tenses of the verb ‘to be.’.
