FOX CITIES -- The City of Menasha is going big on housing.

Discovery Point, a 27-unit luxury apartment building, was completed in October. Harbor Lofts, a 14-unit mixed-use development on Main Street, is scheduled for completion March 1. Banta Lofts, with 34 apartment units and 3,000 square feet of commercial space, will be completed by April 1. The Brin redevelopment project, which includes 43 apartment units, is currently under construction with a planned completion this fall.

KIMBERLY - The village's redevelopment of its former NewPage paper mill will begin the final phase of its makeover this year with construction plans for single-family houses, townhomes and apartment-style condominiums along the Fox River.

Kimberly Village Board approved the final design of the Blue at the Trail development Monday, which is the last development in the Cedars at Kimberly, a 98-acre riverfront community concept that includes parks, trails, houses, condominiums and apartments...

Ripon College grant will help strengthen humanities throughout region

RIPON -- A grant will help strengthen humanities throughout the southern Fox Valley region.

Ripon College received $150,000 Humanities Initiatives for Colleges and Universities grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The grant will fund a three-year effort to reimagine humanistic study for the twenty-first century and support a plan to bolster humanities education by connecting faculty and students with cultural institutions across the southern Fox Valley region....

Evers looks to invest nearly $80 million of state capital budget at UW Oshkosh

OSHKOSH -- Gov. Tony Evers took a tour around UW-Oshkosh Thursday, surveying the areas of campus where he plans to spend $78 million of the state biennial budget.

Earlier this week, Evers proposed spending $3.8 billion on building projects across the state, with nearly half directed toward work across the University of Wisconsin System.

At UWO, Evers is specifically looking to renovate the Webster and Donner residence halls, which were built in 1957 and 1962, respectively...

A 'much further reach than most people realize': Port of Green Bay has annual economic impact of more than $140 million

GREEN BAY – Though the shipping season is officially done at the Port of Green Bay, Director Dean Haen said preparations are already underway for the next season to begin in just a few weeks.

“The shipping season depends on the weather and ice,” he said. “During low ice years, we stay open longer.”

Haen said the U.S. Coast Guard has the final say when the season opens and closes.

“The end of the season is fluid depending upon ice conditions, economic needs and recreational users of the Bay (of Green Bay),” he said. “The Coast Guard looks at the whole region – from Sturgeon Bay down to the Fox River. This past shipping season was longer than normal, but not the longest ever.”....
