INTERVIEW: Schreiber Foods adds a new link in the food chain: Schreiber Logistics

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Schreiber Foods, headquartered in downtown Green Bay, announced a major expansion into the food distribution business.

Schreiber Logistics is putting other companies’ food and supplies on trucks with its own Schreiber Foods products headed to market. “That means we’re going to do everything we can to ensure on-time, in-full deliveries,” Jeremy Koskey, supply chain planning director of Schreiber Logistics, said.

The company says Schreiber Logistics will help businesses that don’t mind sharing a ride get food and supplies to retailers and restaurants, regardless of whether the business is a big-box distributor or a “mom-and-pop” operation, and the ride-sharing lowers transportation costs. It could also help those businesses expand into new markets where Schreiber Foods products are already delivered...

‘Like advancing to the championship game’: Green Bay selected as one of nine finalists for health prize

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The City of Green Bay was chosen as a finalist for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Culture of Health Prize.

Nine finalists across the country were selected, Green Bay is one of them, for the national prize which honors communities working on advancing health, opportunity and equity for all.

Green Bay had a joint application with Wello.

“Being named a RWJF Culture of Health Prize finalist community is like advancing to the championship game in the health and well-being world,” says Natalie Bomstad, Executive Director of Wello.

Thornberry Creek at Oneida hosts first-ever Winterfest on Saturday

ONEIDA, Wis. (WFRV) – Thornberry Creek at Oneida is hosting their first-ever Winterfest this coming weekend on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Organizers say the event will start at 12 p.m. and will go until 5 p.m.

According to a release, the family friendly event will be free for everyone to attend.
Winterfest is expecting multiple activities, which include:

Horse and carriage rides presented by Oneida Tourism. A snowshoe trail (weather dependent) | Children’s games. | Crafts. | Other outdoor fun.

Thornberry Creek says food trucks will be on-site to provide a variety of hot and cold beverages throughout the day.

Manitowoc chefs vie for spot in national magazine, $50K jackpot | Streetwise

MANITOWOC - Two Lakeshore-area chefs are using their cooking chops in hopes of bringing some national attention to Manitowoc restaurants after a tough year.

Greg Czekala, owner and chef at Broken Plate Catering and Diner, and Myke Hollahan, owner and chef at Holla Restaurant, are vying for a chance to win $50,000 and acknowledgement in at two-page ad spread in Bon Appetit magazine through an online contest at Favorite Chef.

Chefs were nominated from around the world, and the idea is to shine a bright spot on the hospitality industry that’s scraped by as business took a hit during the coronavirus pandemic. Folks can vote for their favorite for free once each day, and can then pay $1 a vote. Money raised will help Feeding America, a nonprofit organization that aids a network of food banks throughout the country...
