Boldt building prefab, modular vaccination centers

As the nation’s infrastructure is wrestling with distribution strategies for the COVID-19 vaccine, a new modular system called VaxMod offers health care networks, states, municipalities and retailers an operational solution for delivering the vaccine with safety and speed.

Designed by Boulder Associates Inc. and built by The Boldt Co., the prefabricated, modular units are designed to be deployed in any location, provide safe and efficient vaccination settings for health care workers and individuals, and serve as a long-term space solution post-COVID.

DPI seeking additional Wisconsinites to test internet speed

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction announced today it is seeking additional Wisconsin residents to take part in its initiative to collect information on internet connection speeds to improve access around the state.

In partnership with Measurement Lab, the DPI invites residents to test their home internet speeds using M-Lab’s speed test. Data produced by the test provides broadband planning groups additional information to target improvements....

WEC Energy Group seeking approval for $360 million investment in solar, battery park

Milwaukee-based WEC Energy Group is seeking approval from state regulators to spend $360 million to own and create the first large-scale solar and battery storage project in Wisconsin.

The Paris Solar-Battery Park in Kenosha County would feature 200 MW of solar power generation and another 110 MW of battery storage. The solar arrays would be enough to power 60,000 homes while the battery storage system would discharge power after the sun goes down.

Two WEC Energy Group utilities, WE Energies and Wisconsin Public Service, would own 90% of the project and Madison Gas and Electric would own the other 10%, under a plan submitted to regulators on Tuesday.

The total investment in the project from there utilities would be $400 million. WEC plans to invest $2 billion in new solar, wind and battery storage projects....

Gov. Tony Evers proposes a new $100 million venture capital fund, $200 million to assist small businesses

MADISON - Gov. Tony Evers will propose more than $329 million in new economic development initiatives as part of his state budget proposal Tuesday, including a new $100 million venture capital fund to help startups and $200 million to assist small businesses hurt by the coronavirus pandemic.

Evers released details of his economic development plan Sunday. He will submit his two-year state budget proposal to the Republican-controlled Legislature on Tuesday, which will then spend months reworking it before passing its own version...
