A birthday present for an Algoma man’s son’s 8th birthday quickly turned into a new hobby and new beginning.

Josh Schwader of Algoma was never into riding skateboards growing up. It was his son who received a penny board for his 8th birthday that Schwader grew interest in it. So at 40-years-old, he went and bought himself a skateboard to ride with his son.

UW-Green Bay students create products to improve quality of life for older adults

For the fifth straight year, students at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay are competing in the WiSys Innovation in Aging Student Idea Competition to come up with products, campaigns and solutions to help improve quality of life for older adults.

Susan Gallagher-Lepak is a founder of the competition and is dean of the College of Health, Education and Social Welfare at UW-Green Bay. Gallagher-Lepak said she drew her inspiration for the competition from a similar one at the Stanford University Longevity Center.

2020 venture capital report shows how Wisconsin compares with neighboring states

Wisconsin companies secured $139 million in venture capital investments across 20 deals in the fourth quarter of 2020, the largest of any quarter that year for the state, boosting total venture capital investments in Wisconsin in a pandemic year.

In total, Wisconsin companies raised $273.1 million across 77 deals in 2020, according to Seattle firm PitchBook, which collects data on venture and private equity deals. In 2019, Wisconsin companies raised $214.5 million across 73 deals, and $443 million in 2018 across 84 deals.

To compare, Illinois companies raised $2.8 billion in 2020; Minnesota companies raised $1.8 billion; Ohio companies raised....

Rawhide breaks ground on Fond du Lac facility

Rawhide is a step closer to expanding its youth counseling services in the Fond du Lac area.
