University of Wisconsin partnership converts manure to jet fuel while easing climate change

NEW FRANKEN -- The University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and Agra Energy are operating Wisconsin’s first commercial facility (embedded code virtual tour) to turn manure into fuel for trucks and jets.

The project started six years ago when Agra Energy searched for waste streams to turn into fuel and that went into existing infrastructure such as tanks, pumps and engines.

The California based company refines biogases produced by landfills, food waste or manure from Wisconsin farms into fuel, said Tony Long, Agra Energy’s president and chief technology officer. Its technology converts hydrogen and carbon monoxide into a chain of hydrocarbon molecules...

Lakeland University details use of $75K Veteran Affairs Grant

PLYMOUTH -- A Veterans Affairs Grant Program announced last week by Governor Evers included Lakeland University among its recipients, and today Lakeland announced its intentions for that grant money.

Stephanie Hoskins, LU’s inaugural Herbert Kohler & Frank Jacobson Chair for Business and Entrepreneurship, said the grant will provide seed money for veteran students to start their own small businesses, stipends for co-working spaces at Jake’s, a veteran-focused accelerator program this spring and a recently launched virtual network for veterans....
