Subject: NCSMH Leadership Transition Announcement

Dear Colleague,

We’re excited to share news about the next chapter for the National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH)! At this time of transition, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work you do every day and express our appreciation for your efforts in helping to drive forward the mission of the Center--to strengthen policies and programs in school mental health and to improve learning and promote success for America's youth.

As part of the NCSMH leadership transition, Dr. Nancy Lever will step into a new role as Executive Director of School Mental Health within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In this capacity, she’ll provide overarching strategic direction and support across school mental health efforts in research, training, policy, and clinical practice. She will continue to lead pre-service internship training and to provide guidance and support to the NCSMH, the school mental health clinical programs, and to a wide array of school mental health projects.

We’re also thrilled to officially welcome Drs. Jill Bohnenkamp and Brittany Patterson into their new roles as Co-Directors of NCSMH. Both Jill and Brittany have been integral to the Center’s work first as trainees and then as faculty, bringing deep expertise, dedication, and heart in school mental health. They are eager to partner with each of you to shape the next phase of the NCSMH.

We continue to celebrate Dr. Sharon Hoover’s incredible legacy as she works alongside the team prior to her retirement to support a smooth transition, which will officially take place on June 1.  As we mark this milestone, we also look ahead to the exciting opportunities before us. Jill, Brittany, and Nancy are eager to collaborate with all of you in visioning, setting strategic goals, advancing innovation, and continuing our collective impact in school mental health.

We are so grateful for you and proud of the spirit and strength you contribute to the NCSMH. Here's to this new chapter, to collaboration, and to continuing to do meaningful work together.

With gratitude,
The NCSMH Leadership Team
