We’re excited to recap another successful year of supporting equine activities & heritage in the Town of Woodside, County of San Mateo and State of California. In 2022, we donated $36,992 to a number of great projects.


Since inception in 2003, over 72% of our grants have come from contributions from people like you, for which we and the recipients are forever grateful.

Selected grants made in 2022

UC Davis Equine Program

$5,400 Committed

As a recognition and thanks to the 27 organizations that participated and supported the Woodside Town Council trail ride, the Mounted Patrol Foundation donated $5,400 to help support equine veterinarian students and equine research.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activity League

$4,752 Granted

We worked with the Sheriff’s office to provide horseback training and trail riding in Wunderlich Park for 42 youths, who had a great time and appreciated the opportunity. Read their comments and learn more.

Woodside Equestrian Merit Scholarship

$5,000 Granted

The Woodside-area Horse Owners Association (WHOA!) and us awarded our jointly-sponsored $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship to Iliana Close, who demonstrates outstanding involvement in equestrian activities, academic achievement and community service.


We will be awarding another scholarship in 2023. Please send the application to any eligible high school seniors you may know.

Western Heritage Scholarship

$8,300 Granted

This scholarship provides financial support for higher education for high school students who represent Western Heritage deals, lifestyle and history, who have a financial need. This year it was awarded to Michael Procopio Santos. He is attending California State University, Fresno, and is studying Equine Science. Learn more about this program.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activity League

$5,000 Goal

We're continuing this very successful program in 2023. Please considering supporting horseback training and riding for these deserving youths. Since 1997, the Sheriff's Activity League supports the prevention of juvenile delinquency.

Western Heritage Scholarship

$7,000 Goal

We're continuing this program to provide another outstanding high school student with financial support. an advanced education or training who supports Western heritage ideals.

10th Anniversary  All Weather Trails

Huddart and Wunderlich Parks

In 2008 we completed 5.1 miles in Huddart Park In 2012 we finished 2.84 miles in Wunderlich Park. For the last 10 years we have been able to ride the trails year round. Many thanks to all the generous donors who donated the $125,000 to make these projects possible.
