A 501c3 supporting and promoting equestrian activities

August 2025 Mid Year Newsletter

We’re excited to share this mid-year update on the projects we’ve been working on—and to thank our generous donors whose support made them possible.

Greer Road Bridge Replacement – Vital Link for Equestrians

Our largest project this year was the replacement of the Greer Road Bridge on the Kings Mountain Trail in Huddart Park. Over the past two years, creek erosion had badly damaged the bridge’s footings, making it unsafe. Thanks to nearly $40,000 raised from the community, we funded a brand new 45-foot bridge with reinforced footings. Construction began June 16 and wrapped up in mid-July—now equestrians are once again enjoying safe, easy access to the park.  Many thanks to the team from San Mateo County Parks for their construction expertise. There will be a grand opening celebration on Saturday Sept 13 at 9:30 at the bridge. Thanks to all the generous donors who made this project possible.

$10,000 Equestrian Merit Scholarship

In partnership with WHOA!, the Mounted Patrol Foundation awarded the $10,000 Equestrian Merit Scholarship to Presley Cooper of Livermore.

Presley Jean Cooper, a proper cowgirl from Livermore, earned this year’s $10,000 Equestrian Merit Scholarship with her extreme dedication to her rodeo and school communities. An active member of 4-H, Future Farmers of America, and the California High School Rodeo Association, as well as a varsity lacrosse player, she was still able to earn Cum Laude grades. She’s off to Fresno State University to earn a degree in Agricultural Business and continue competing on the rodeo team.

She displayed an impressive understanding of the budgeting it takes to succeed in school while maintaining a relationship with horses, and she teared up with gratitude when she found out she would be able to add this scholarship to the sensible, detailed budget she has already created for her university years.

July 4th Rodeo Scholarships – In Honor of Bill Lane

Two outstanding rodeo competitors were recognized for their academic achievement, community service, and equestrian skill:

  • Presley Cooper, Livermore – $2,000 scholarship

  • Jess Wilder, Livermore – $1,000 scholarship

Horses for Heroes – Trail Rides for Veterans

Through our Horses for Heroes program, military veterans referred by the Palo Alto VA enjoy trail rides and lessons at Jasper Ridge Farm. These rides provide a meaningful way for veterans to connect with nature and experience the therapeutic benefits of working with horses. Your support can make a real impact. To our veterans: Thank you for your service and sacrifice for our country. We are grateful.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activity League (SAL)

We’re honored to host horse riding activities for youth from the Sheriff’s Activity League. For many participants, it’s their first time ever on a horse—an unforgettable experience! Visit our website to see their photos and read their inspiring stories.

Support for the Equestrian victims of the LA Fires

Following last year’s devastating fires in Los Angeles, the Foundation worked closely with the Fleet of Angels to help feed and care for horses which had lost their barns and corrals. Together, we provided almost $14,000 in aid.
