Tip: Embracing Biblical Discipleship for All

As a thank you, we wanted to share one of our popular DFC Training tips to start the New Year - Check it out below:

Every person is created in the image of God, and that includes those with intellectual disabilities. They enrich our lives and communities in ways we often overlook. It is vital for us to embrace biblical discipleship that includes everyone, fostering growth and understanding for all.

Discipleship is more than teaching; it is about journeying together—maturing in faith and serving with purpose. By engaging with individuals with intellectual disabilities, and opening the opportunity to grow spiritually, we enhance the family of God, the way it was intended.

More Tips for Accessible Discipleship

How can we ensure our ministries reflect the beauty of diverse discipleship? Here are a few practical steps you can take to make your ministry more accessible:

  • Provide visual and audio tools: Offer materials for the plan of salvation, prayer points, or scripture reading that cater to different learning styles.

  • Offer alternative reading: Utilize audio Bibles (like the Bible App), YouTube videos, large print Bibles, or other recorded methods.

  • Intentionally mentor: Conduct regular check-ins to encourage growth and accountability.

  • Model study methods: Use simple, structured ways to help people dig into the Bible.

Simple Study Methods Explained:

  1. The 4 W's Method: Great for understanding context. Encourage asking Who?, What?, Where?, and When? to focus on the facts of the passage.

  2. The S.O.A.P. Method: Helps move reading into personal application and prayer. Model the steps: Scripture, Observation, Application (identifying how this truth applies to their life), and Prayer (asking God for help to live it out).

By consistently using these simple methods, you empower individuals to find deeper, actionable meaning in God's Word. Together, we can ensure our ministries reflect Christ's love for all.

Thank you again for making 2025 an unforgettable year of ministry.

Sincerely,

The Special Touch Ministry Team
