I
just finished watching (for the second time) a video of our great-granddaughter,
Elena, opening her holiday gifts.
The
family celebrated Christmas in her home and since she is only one and a half
years old, she was learning how to open presents.
Tearing
the paper off was eluding her a little bit, but what she caught on to very
quickly was how to respond to each piece of clothing, item, or toy she opened.

|
With
every gift that came out of its wrapping, her parents, abuelita (grandma) and tias
(aunties) all said, “Wow!” with great enthusiasm and joy.
By
the time she was holding her third gift, she understood and she too chimed in
on the Wow moments!
Joy
is infectious and what she was receiving, even more than the presents, was the
joy being offered by her family. That delight was reflected in her own little
eyes and voice, each time she added her own, “Wow!”
Papa
J (that’s what the grandkids call him) and I smiled and chuckled the entire
time we watched her video.

discovered what the real magic of the holiday season is all about! Wow moments
are created from the joy of love. |
|
Whether you
are celebrating Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa or life itself, there is a Wow
somewhere waiting to be enjoyed.
Maybe someone
called you out of the blue. Perhaps someone called, sent a card or a gift, or
offered a prayer for you. Perhaps your heart opened to a new insight, or you received
a powerful and meaningful dream.
Or perhaps
you allowed yourself to celebrate someone else’s joy—the way Jeffrey and I did
with our great-granddaughter.
