For many of us, 2021 brings a promise of hope.

I’d like to suggest we think about hope itself a little differently than we usually do, as we launch into this new year.

Mary Magdalene suggests this definition: Hope is surrender to God’s love for you.

What keeps us from the true power of hope is that we too often think of hope as a 50/50 proposition. In the common notion of hope, we tend to think: Maybe, if I do everything just right and God finally responds to my prayers, things will work out the way I want.

However, as long as—in your mind—there is a 50% chance that things won’t work out, your mind will lead toward the familiar—your doubts—the fears that keep you locked in old patterns.

In order for significant personal and planetary change to occur in 2021, we need a greatly expanded perspective about what is possible.

On the first day of our new year, I got still and asked the Divine for a Reading for the World with guidance about how to be with our mental, emotional and physical health in 2021.

I recommend you do the same, because your direct guidance is what matters most for you.

In the spirit of sharing and expanding what hope could be for us, here is what I received:

Ask yourself…

As a species, where do you need to find your balance? Your spiritual center?

How does this momentary constriction open you to greater expansion?

When you are on the other side of these COVID constrictions, what will you be grateful that you gave to yourself? To others? To the planet?

What new life is longing to emerge? What newly birthed qualities will you celebrate in you?

Isn’t it interesting that the reading I received came in the form of questions?

Questions lead to inquiry. 

The hope we hold for the new expression of our potential continually expands as—each year, month, week and day—we surrender to an ever-deepening experience of Divine love.

Like a tree, our strength is directly related to the breadth and depth of our roots. And our reach is a reflection of our endurance. 

The limitless power of the Divine finds its expression through us from the deeply rooted depths of our love.
