SBC's Creativity Festivals celebrate multiple intelligences.
Creativity Festivals celebrate creativity & problem solving. Students participate in hands-on sessions presented by visual & performing artists & STEM professionals.

Creativity Festival for grades 5-7 takes place at the Science Museum of Minnesota on December 2, 3, 4, and 5, 2014.
Registration deadline: October 17, 2014

  
Creativity Festival for grades 3 & 4  takes place at the Ted Mann Concert Hall on the U of MN campus on January 13 & 14, 2015.
Registration deadline: November 14, 2014

SBC's Knowledge Bowl is an interdisciplinary academic competition that promotes academic achievement and rewards academic excellence.
Knowledge Bowl is an academic team
competition that strengthens problem solving & critical thinking skills while emphasizing student growth centered on academics.


Senior High KB Registration deadline:
November 10, 2014
Middle Grades KB Registration deadline:
November 7, 2014

Success Beyond the Classroom is kicking off the Knowledge Bowl season by hosting the 2014 Statewide Coach Clinic!

The 2014 Statewide Coach Clinic will take place on October 23, 2014 at TIES Event Center in St. Paul, MN.

There will be two breakout sessions, a general session on Creative Practice Techniques, and a panel discussion. The day wraps-up with a raffle for a complete set of KB equipment (and other great prizes)!


SBC coordinates the Minnesota region of the
Future City Competition.
During this semester-long engineering education program, students design a virtual city, build a tabletop scale model, research & write an essay, & give an oral presentation at the final state competition.

Regional Competition Event: January 17, 2015
25 years of SBC's Young Authors Conference
is celebrated with the theme: 

Outsmart Writer's Block & JumpSTART Your Writing!
Keynote speaker May Lee-Yang; playwright, poet, prose writer, and performance artist; will share tips and tricks to getting into the creative zone, so you can harness the power of inspiration instead of waiting for it to come find you.

Students in grades 4-8 are challenged to take their writing to the next level during a day full of inspiration and strategies while attending the keynote and hands-on breakout sessions led by published authors, illustrators, journalists, poets and more.
March YAC: March 19, 2015

May YAC: May 26, 27, 28, & 29, 2015
Registration deadline: February 14, 2015

Success Beyond the Classroom was developed by Metro ECSU in 1999 to better serve constituents and to improve the focus and scope of student enrichment programs. SBC strives to maintain the cost-effectiveness of its programs and Metro ECSU members can receive special member rates to participate.
