| | | | Our 2018 Young Authors Conference theme is Connecting the World—One Story at a Time. We're excited to announce our keynote: Green Card Voices. Green Card Voices works with young immigrants from two metro area high schools. These
relationships have resulted in two books written by 60 students from
Wellstone International High School, Minneapolis, and LEAP High School,
St. Paul. Our theme and keynote will challenge young writers to craft stories that will explore the power of
personal narrative.
At YAC, students attend three sessions led by published authors, journalists, poets, storytellers, songwriters,
playwrights and more. YAC will motivate students to become better writers and
encourage students to use their stories to connect with others here in
their community, their school, and across the world.

| | | STEMLink at Normandale Community College sold out in 8 minutes, an entire school attended on one day of the Century College site, this year because of the high demand we've expanded to a THIRD SITE... Be a part of this can't-be-missed program this year so you don't have to regret missing it later!
STEM careers come to life as fifth and sixth grade students
participate in three 60-minute interactive sessions on a college campus
in college labs with professionals from the fields of biology,
physics, chemistry, health sciences, engineering, CAD, horticulture,
fabrication, math, cybersecurity, computer science and more.

| | | Knowledge Bowl is an interdisciplinary academic competition that promotes achievement and rewards excellence.
Senior High Knowledge BowlStudents in grades 9-12 test their smarts against 130 teams from across the Metro. The top 6 teams head to State at Cragun's Resort to face off against the best and the brightest Knowledge Bowlers across the state. |
| | Middle Grades Knowledge Bowl
This season starts at the Once Upon a Kick-Off Meet! Awards will be given for best costumes and top 5 placing teams. Schools new to Knowledge Bowl may attend for free!
The
regular season is held at various middle schools across the
Metro. Teams battle against other Metro KBers for awards and glory; it
all comes to a head at the two regional finale meets where trophies are presented to the best of the best.
This year's Middle Grade Statewide Meet, I Love the 90s, takes place at St. Francis Middle school in January. Come prepared to, like totally, destroy the competition.

The Future City Competition is a national,
cross-curricular program that lets 6th - 8th graders do the things
engineers do: identify problems, brainstorm ideas, design solutions,
test and retest, build and then share the results.
