Dear Friend

Well, a little bit of bad news to report to you tonight. (frown)

Sorry to say that my campaign for Seattle City Council has come to an abrupt end today. The primary was August 6th, and after the preliminary count, I didn't receive enough votes to advance to the general election.

I'm sorry about that and I feel terrible about it, but I gave it my best shot. I thought that our campaign team did a great job and got our message out there and I "held my own" during all of the debates.... but, the voters have spoken, and I have to respect that. 

Big money and "special interests" won out again, but that's the nature of politics. I ran kind of a "grassroots"campaign, not a lot of money, but a lot of community involvement and constantly talking to potential voters.

What's next you may be asking? Well, as most of you know, I've had my share of challenges over the last couple of years, which really got me involved with mental health awareness and suicide prevention. So, I founded my own non - profit foundation (501c3), Your Gift of Life Foundation and that's where my real passion lies. *A Very Good Tax Deduction for Those of You Looking to Support! (smile!)

So, I've already switched gears, and am working with that as the Executive Director. This will give me the platform to go around the country speaking to our young generation of students, sharing my story and personal experiences. Giving our young people a sense of hope and the strength to hang in there, no matter what. I'm also finishing up a book that I will be publishing in September.

Anyway, that'll keep me plenty busy for the foreseeable future. I'll also be able to finally get back to generating some income for myself, with paid speaking engagements, so, that's good news.

Well, I thank each and everyone of you for having faith and confidence in me with the political endeavor. I'm not a "politician" at heart, just wanted to get in there and make a difference.
