Studio Updates

February 2026

As we head into February, MCMA is still aglow from the amazing effort and talent our students poured into every moment of the winter recital. Keep and eye on our website and social media for more photos like the one above by Siri Jones Photography, coming soon, or see below for video of the event!

Meanwhile, the spring semester is in full swing. It's not too late to sign up if you're considering trying music lessons or if you're interested in joining one of our ensembles.

Read on to learn about our student of the month, a first-ever concert showcasing our amazing faculty coming up in March, several openings in our ensembles for a variety of musical styles, ages, and instruments, and some fun community events that will help brighten up the home stretch of Winter!

MEET OUR FEBRUARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH!

Asher has studied guitar at MCMA for five and a half years, first with Tom Ulichny and now with Amory Raymond. Amory has this to say about his student:

“I selected Asher because of how impressed I am with his consistent levels of improvement and progress. It helps that Asher is an interested, patient, and motivated person. His vision of his relationship to music and the guitar puts his playing on a path to a unique voice that is both beautiful and distinct.

To achieve the style he's cultivating, we’ve decided to go with no pick and find a fingerstyle approaching a fun, “Summer Soul”-style repertoire with modal, neo-soul and latin influences. Using a set of tunes he introduced to our lessons, Asher is learning both the neck (fretboard geography) and functional harmony together. This helps pave a path to a clean, smooth style that employs modal chord/scale understanding and chord melody improvisation, while being very close and personal.

As Asher grows up, it’s clear to see that his interest in the intricacies of the guitar remain intact. His consistent dedication over the years is the backbone for his entire journey.”

SAVE THE DATE: FACULTY CONCERT

Join us for the inaugural MCMA Faculty Concert, celebrating the artistry and versatility of MCMA’s faculty. Taking place at Pascal Hall in Rockport on Friday, March 6 at 7:00pm, the concert will feature faculty members performing both solo and in a variety of ensembles. The program spans a wide musical landscape, from fresh interpretations of classical pieces to original works to modern jazz funk, showcasing the depth of MCMA’s teaching artists.
