Happy 2026! MCMA is looking forward to another magical and musical year ahead! We kick off the year with our Winter recital on January 25 and then dive right into the Spring semester the next day. Now is the time to sign up for Spring classes! Read on to hear more about our recital, register for a phenomenal Songwriting Workshop with the great Spencer Albee, meet the January Student of the Month, and more!

2026 WINTER RECITAL

Please join us for a celebration of student work on Sunday, January 25th at 12:30pm at the Strand Theatre in Rockland. All are welcome! Our winter recitals are always a lot of fun, so we encourage you to invite family and friends. This is a great way for anyone considering music lessons to see the possibilities MCMA offers, and guests are sure to enjoy the joyful and entertaining show.

This year's program features our Girls Rock band and our youth choir, "The Chickadees," along with performers of all skill levels from age 8 through 70 plus! You will hear a wide range of music that encompass jazz, rock, classical, Broadway, folk and African beats.

A $15 suggested donation at the door helps MCMA offset recital costs. Concessions by The Strand will be available for purchase.

SONGWRITING WORKSHOP

We have a few more openings for SONGWRITING: A Start to Never Finished Course, taught by Spencer Albee. Register below to join us for one, two or all three sessions of this special three-part course.

Take a deep dive in to the songwriting process with Spencer Albee (AS FAST AS, The Walrus, Rustic Overtones), a Maine songwriter and producer who has worked with artists ranging from David Bowie to The Ghost of Paul Revere. Over three sessions we will discuss the fundamentals of songwriting, and continue to push the camera on more and more details as the sessions progress.

Spencer will take you from fundamentals to completion (of a sort) over three progressive class sessions on Saturdays January 31, February 7 and February 14. Open to all aspiring songwriters aged 14 and up.

MEET OUR JANUARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH!

Maddy Siletti has been studying voice with Mark Power since December of 2024, and is MCMA’s phenomenal Office Manager! Mark has this to say about his student:

"Maddy is an outstanding individual, as everyone knows. It’s not just proper English and lesson scheduling where she gives attention to detail, but in every letter and note of her new-found vocal technique. She literally takes notes in every lesson, which is rare.

Her ability to understand and apply methods is unique. You can (figuratively) see the light bulb go on with something new, each and every week. Maddy applies her singing technique in the Adult Rock ensemble, fitting in quite nicely with another vocalist and the band.

Maddy has grown in confidence by leaps and bounds. I attribute this to the acute focus she delivers every week. And of course, her attendance is also perfect, as one would expect. Way to be, Maddy!”
