I grew up in a middle-class family — three pairs of clothes, two for Dussehra and Diwali, one for my birthday.

By the 10th of every month, we’d already be waiting for the next salary.

I started earning when I was 15 because I knew my father couldn’t give me more.
I was jealous of my rich friends.
Embarrassed by the clothes I wore, the place I lived in.

I topped my MBA and thought life would finally change.
It didn’t.
Because no one teaches you how to apply for the right job, how to write your resume, how to speak and position yourself.

I did every small job I could — selling credit cards, doing surveys — before finally joining a BPO.
Every big expense meant borrowing from friends or saving for months.

Then I married the love of my life — a man from an even humbler family.
We had nothing except our dreams.
For a year, we even lived in different cities because neither of us could afford to quit our jobs.

One night, sitting in my small rented 1 room in Delhi during a power cut, I called my husband in Bhopal and said —

“The first thing I want to buy one day is an inverter… so I can sleep peacefully.”

That was my dream.
Not luxury. Not fame.
Just peace.

Today, my electricity bill is more than my salary back then — and it doesn’t bother me.
I have clothes I’ve never worn and many I’ll never repeat.

Yesterday, while planning Diwali shopping, I silently thanked the Universe.

Because I know what it feels like to want something simple — and not have it.

I didn’t want money to show off.
I just didn’t want to feel small.
I wanted to give my family comfort and dignity.

I used to fight with my father for not earning more for not doing more.
But now I know — every family has one soul who decides to end the cycle of poverty and mediocrity.

In my family, that person was me.
And maybe in yours — it’s you.

You might be the one who changes not just your life,
but the destiny of your generations.

Why am I sharing this with you? 

because I don’t ever want you to forget why we began as Legends.
Not for certifications. Not for LinkedIn updates.

But to build a life where we never have to fight the same battles again — and neither do the ones who come after us.
