Subject: Our Food. Our Freedom. Our Future.

Partners in the fight for local control!

Dear Friend:

When we band together, we can achieve big things. In 2025, our shared advocacy led to tangible wins that protect farmers, ranchers, and small food businesses from overreach — leading the way to stronger local food economies rooted in choice and community.

For example: In early 2025, FTCLDF attorney Michelle Halley prevailed in a Michigan appellate case. Finding that Cottonwood Farm engaged in commercial activity, which required consideration of the Michigan Right to Farm Act, the court overturned the lower court’s decision.

These cases shift the balance of power in our fight by inspiring and setting precedent for producers everywhere.

Still, the pressure on our communities is unrelenting. Regulatory agencies continue to create costly, unnecessary barriers that make it harder for independent producers to stay afloat — and harder for people to access the fresh, local food they rely on.

More farmers, ranchers, small food businesses, and homesteaders are reaching out to us for help than ever before. We want to say yes to every one of them.

Will you stand with us today? Your support fuels the legal defense and policy changes essential to our shared fight for resilient local food systems.
