Subject: Notification of Farm -to-Table Fundraising Event to Empower and Sustain Oregon Family Farms

Dear Friend,

On Saturday, October 28, 2023, Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund will hold its signature fundraising event of the year, “Empowering and Sustaining Oregon Family Farms” in McMinnville, Oregon.

Hosted by The Ground, an ecosystem of businesses connecting farms, food and people through loving hospitality, this farm-to-table dinner with optional farm tour is an opportunity to bridge the gap between food and community.

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about this event. If you or anyone you know is interested in a sponsorship opportunity, multiple levels of sponsorship are available. It would greatly help the success of the event if FTCLDF could find a few more sponsors.

Why Oregon?

We chose to hold this event in Oregon because we understand that there are pending changes to regulatory interpretation in Oregon that can potentially affect anyone who owns livestock. In general, agricultural policy often supports larger industrial agriculture, which makes it difficult for smaller regenerative farms to survive, and the potential changes will hurt smaller producers further. FTCLDF, its members and other small farms are exploring all options to better protect small producers and funds from this event will help fund these efforts.

How You Can Help

  • If you can, please join us in October at Stillwater in McMinnville, Ore. for a locally sourced and expertly prepared dinner that features Willamette Valley wines and beer. Enjoy live music during the cocktail hour followed by a three-course meal as you gather with like-minded supporters of Oregon’s vibrant local food system.

  • Please spread the word to your network about this event. Proceeds from “Empowering and Sustaining Oregon Family Farms” will fund legal and policy representation specific to independent farmers, artisanal food producers, and their consumers.

  • Consider being a sponsor. Join in protecting Oregon small farmers from an immediate and urgent regulatory threat to the state’s small livestock farmers including dairies, meat growers, and even horse farms.
