Farm-to-Table Dinner Will Fund Protection for Small Livestock Operations

 

Join us for Empowering and Sustaining Oregon Family Farms at the beautiful Stillwater event venue in McMinnville, Oregon. This farm-to-table dinner fundraiser will feature locally sourced ingredients and Willamette Valley wines. Held in conjunction with The Ground, an ecosystem of businesses connecting farms, food and people through loving hospitality, this event can include an optional regenerative farm tour at Tabula Rasa Farms to complete your experience. Oregon Small Livestock Operations to Be Regulated as CAFOs in 2024

 

Small dairies, livestock operations, and potentially even equestrian operations in Oregon have been informed, that starting Jan. 1, 2024, they will be required to obtain a CAFO permit to operate.FTCLDF and its members are exploring the best response to this new development in Oregon.

Increase the Supply of Farm-Raised Meats; Support the PRIME Act and Changes to FMIA

 

There are two bills on the table that will support the supply of farm-raised meats by improving access to local meat processing facilities. The proposed Processing Revival and Intrastate Meat Exemption Act or PRIME Act (H.R. 2859/ S. 907) could dramatically reduce barriers for local producers and processors by decentralizing meat slaughter and allowing the legal sale of locally-produced-and-processed pasture-raised beef, pork, lamb, and goat.

In addition to the Prime Act, an amendment is being proposed for the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA). The proposed amendment would require more accountability and put the burden of proof on the USDA if the agency determines a state inspection program is not “equal to” or better than federal law.
